Breaking: Pennsylvania Judge Upholds Voter ID Law
NYT ^ | 8/15/12 | TIMOTHY WILLIAMS

Posted on 08/15/2012 7:58:03 AM PDT by NowApproachingMidnight

A Pennsylvania judge on Wednesday refused to grant an injunction on a new voter identification law that Democrats say could harm President Obama’s re-election chances by unfairly targeting minorities, college students and others in a key swing state.

Philadelphia will simply ignore the law.

There is no way to enforce the law when all the means of enforcement are in the hands of those who chose to disregard it. Philadelphia ceased to be America years and years ago. Philadelphia is not subject to American law.

Oh come on now. I’m sure Roberts can come up with some brilliant, creative way to strike down the law. George Will and Charles Krauthammer can then lecture us about it being the best advancement of conservatism by the court in decades.

Why don’t the liberals organize efforts to make sure their voters get the proper ID so that they can comply with the law??.

Simple: because it is NOT about legitimate voters, it is about the ability to generate fraud - is there any other conclusion possible?

...the voter ID law was a booby prize for conservatives because our Quisling State GOP Chair blocked a far more important piece of legislation which would have awarded Pennsylvania's electoral votes by congressional district, the same system used in Maine and Nebraska.

So, if Romney won Pennsylvania, Ubama would still get all the electoral votes from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and the rest of the state's concentrated Democrat parasite nests ("cities")?

That doesn't sound like a good deal..

The alleged barriers to voting are either not real or are greatly exaggerated by liberals.

It isn't about the alleged barriers. It is about erecting bogus strawman arguments against voter ID so that corrupt Dems can continue to send their henchmen into the field to vote multiple times using the names of dead or moved voters.

It's that simple.

:: I’m sure they all collect food stamps yet somehow said minority, poor and elderly voters are not disenfranchised from that entitlement. ::

This should mobilize a Breitbart-type to apply for food stamps without ID or proof of income.

“a far better election dynamic than the voter ID law because the cheating could not be concentrated in a handful of precincts”

I favor ‘whole state’ awarding of the electoral votes for federalism reasons, but you have a good point here.

Because post hole diggers and backhoes are strictly controlled in graveyards.

Good one Red! But you owe me a new keyboard for that!

I am pretty sure that college students HAVE TO HAVE photo IDs, certainly need them to buy alcohol. The only way this might affect them is that they can only vote once, whereever they are, physically, instead of both at home and at school.

The comments from the story are simply amazing. Claims that getting ID is tough when you only work part time and are too poor to pay the fees, blah blah blah. You need ID to get a job, and if these clowns are "poor" I'm sure they are in front of the line for all that free stuff; ID required.

I had to produce a current drivers license to buy an Amtrak ticket. I was in DE and was going to adopt a pet from a shelter and they wanted to photo copy my driver's license to get past the front desk.

Thanks to the left-O-crats, there is precious little that one can do that is not licensed, permitted and requiring gub'mint issued ID. I'm sick and tired of their lies.

The same worn-out argument presented by Quisling Gleason.

The fact of the matter is if any GOP Presidential candidate wins Pennsylvania, the election will be a GOP blowout and four or five electoral votes from scattered RAT strongholds will mean squat.

No GOP candidate has won Pennsylvania since 1988 and there has been some pretty close elections during that time. We risk our continued relevancy as a swing state by continuing the same winner take all garbage.

Congressional district voting will also help GOP candidates down ticket as there is less incentive to cheat down ticket at the same time when the stakes at the top are lowered.

Same worn out argument presented by George Will, token conservative for the Washington Post. And valid only when the state is reasonably homogeneous in economics and interests. Kansas? For sure. Colorado? Maybe. Pennsylvania and California? Not even close.

This means PA is in play for the GOP. If the GOP can win PA it can insure against the loss of a former reliable GOP state of VA. PA is one of the large critical states GOP need to win the 270 ECV. Right now Obama is leading with about 247 ECV (including leaning states).

I guess I was thinking of the same worn-out argument presented by the nation's founders. Whatever. Anyway, Pennsylvania looks like it's returning to common decency with the recent statewide elections of Republicans Pat Toomey and Tom Corbett. I'd hate to give anything to the rats when we don't have to.

In Galveston a judge refuses to uphold Texas’ voter ID. Go figure!

::I’m sure they all collect food stamps yet somehow said minority, poor and elderly voters are not disenfranchised from that entitlement. ::

This should mobilize a Breitbart-type to apply for food stamps without ID or proof of income.

And that is showing ID for an entitlement. I would like to people try to exercise RIGHTS without an ID. Buy a gun without ID... you have a Civil Right protected by the 2nd Amendment to buy a gun... and now government wants to intimidate the elderly and minorities by making them show ID to exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights?

If showing ID to vote "disenfranchises" minorities and the elderly from voting then showing ID to buy or carry a gun "disenfranchises" minorities and the elderly just the same. Maybe a disproportionate number of hispancis feel intimidated when asked to see their ID at the sporting goods purchase counter when exercising their 2nd Amendment Rights.

So, if Romney won Pennsylvania, Ubama would still get all the electoral votes from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh

This is the 2008 results by county in Pennsylvania. This year expect a lot less blue and more red. I'd be willng to bet the only blue this year will be Philadelphia county with all 66 other counties going red. Yes... even Allegheny County goes to Romney!

Saw an intersting yard sign here in PA the other day. It said...

Stop The War on Coal
Fire Obama
