A newly recruited Afghan village policeman opened fire on his American allies on Friday, killing two U.S. service members minutes after they handed him his official weapon in an inauguration ceremony. It was the latest in a disturbing string of attacks by Afghan security forces on the international troops training them.

All this and yet, the rules of engagement and diplomatic weakness of this administration are not brought into the campaign. Ike promised an end to the Korean war. Nixon promised a “secret strategy” in Vietnam. Kerry ran on a promise to leave Iraq. The idiocy of Obama’s strategy in Afghanistan and the unsatisfactory termination of Iraq are apparently off limits in this campaign?

Get out troops the hell out of there. Leave behind NOTHING but enough shovels for these savages to bury each other, before or after they are dead. The nastiest thing we can do is to leave these 10th century idiots to themselves. It may be “politically incorrect” to say, but a single young AMERICAN life is worth more than that entire sewer.

The plan is to leave soon, which makes the deaths resulting from this holding pattern all the more futile. We could have declared victory under Bush or Obama and given the "graveyard of empires" back to its inhabitants (who don't want us there anyway).

There's no strategic value any more.

They are all replaceble with others just as bad.

Has their deaths stopped the killings?

We have a whole country of people who do not want us there. We either kill them all down to the point where they no longer fight , or we need to move on.

So you would just cut, run and let the Taliban take Afghanistan and possibly Pakistan? So that they can give safe haven to terrorists groups who will attack us?

Jut like Vietnam. There’s no way to tell who the enemy is.

They need to screen these swines better.

Seriously, there are any number of tricks they can use to spot betrayal, like loading a revolver, firing two shots from it, and handing it to the trainee, not mentioning that the other bullets are dummies.

It works even better with a machine gun, same trick.

Be sure to make it appear that it is just the two of you, while a hidden confederate has a sniper rifle trained on the trainee. If he points the gun at you and goes “click, click”, his next sensation should be a bullet passing through him. None of this “arrest” b.s. Kill him.

Throw the body into a pit, and tell his comrades that he ran off.

Endless variations on this. And, if you don’t want to kill them, there are some subtle psychological tests that can be used to tell if someone is treacherous. Simple things that are strong indicators, if not proof positive. If they fail those tests, just wish them well and show them the door. They don’t even need to know they failed a test.

You might even give them a bogus test after the real test, with them correctly answering an obvious simple question. Then, if a future trainee answers the *opposite* of the obvious answer, you know he has been primed, so is also a traitor.

the only way to show what happens when you screw with us is to level the entire village where one of these clowns comes from everytime they do something like that. Sooner or later the word gets out, mess with the bull, you get the horns. If that means eradicating the entire nation, so be it.

If we don’t have the will to do that, get the hell out of there ASAP.

LOL they already have safe haven there. Bin Laden was hidden by the Pakistani’s for 7 years.

We arent stopping them from doing anything they want to do there, and we pay them for the privilege of watching them do it.

It’s not a safe haven when they’re constantly getting killed by our drones.

If we left now they wouldn’t have to worry about that and could focus all their efforts on attacking us.

Don’t forget that Pakistan has NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

What if they fell into the hands of AQ?

"So that they can give safe haven to terrorists groups who will attack us?"

Where is our trillion $$$ presence in Pakistan (They shut out our logistics in case you have not noticed) Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Egypt and the rest of Africa, lol? Remember, they got us with box cutters, not SAMS or other traditional military means. You must think Al Q will turn into a "Super Power" if we don't waste trillion$ instituting COIN. Good grief man, seek & destroy, in & out leaving a violent impression, and threaten Mecca's existence.

Our "occupation" in Afghan is the most effective recruiting tool (Other than our "satanic" way of life embracing all that is not from allah) despite how carefully the leaders tip-toe in the wilderness of COIN implementation.

“Don’t forget that Pakistan has NUCLEAR WEAPONS.”

That has pitiful range, “overseen” by China, and frantically trying to be preserved/fixed by western scientist. The arsenal is degrading and needs a lot of work.
