Yeah, I’ve never had my glass filled to often, too seldom yes, to often never.

Not that I'm condoning what this idiot did, but I have had the experience where the waiter just won't leave you alone for even 5 minutes without coming by and offering more water, asking if you need anything else, etc. Hard to have a conversation or even enjoy your meal when they're right on you like that. Never occurred to me to throw a glass at his head, though.

I’ve been in the same situation. But I just thank them for their service and ask that we be left alone for a while. It works and everyone is happy.
