You seem to be comparing apples and oranges. The Medicare Parts B and D (SMI) cost the government $292.5 million in 2011. Beneficiary premiums provided $65.4 million of the revenue and the general fund provided $222 million. The remaining revenue came from interest payments and other sources.

Your personal circumstances aside, the premiums paid for Medicare Parts B and D cover only 25% of the costs. The premiums are adjusted annually based on a formula and now we have different tiers based on income for the premiums, i.e., it is a form of means testing. This has nothing to do with the drug companies and what your co-pays are. This has to do with the costs to the federal government to support these programs, which are unsustainable. Medicare Part D represents an unfunded liability of $7.2 trillion. When the Dems tout eliminating the "donut hole" for the prescription drug program, where do you think the money comes from to do this?

As more and more people retire, the costs to the General Fund will continue to increase. If nothing is done to reform these programs, the costs will eventually consume the entire federal budget. These are just the facts. Take a look at the Trustees Report.

I like Ted Cruz, however he was on that ridiculous program MTP today, he had multiple opportunities to at least say a kind word about Gov Sarah Palin, her name was mentioned negatively numerous times. He said nothing

"What if we are over 55 and don’t want Medicare? How do we get out of it. All these politicians assume we all love Medicare and many of us don’t want it."

Don't sign up and keep/take out private insurance if you have the option. We still have that choice - for now.

Received this a few days ago. Sounds like a good response to me.

Romney’s Horse

“So the Romneys are selfish for keeping a horse? And employing a groom with a family to support. And paying for feed that’s sold by someone with a family to support and transported in trucks by someone with a family to support and manufactured in a factory by people with families to support from stuff that’s grown by farmers with families to support. And having a barn built by construction workers with families to support with materials trucked by drivers with families to support from factories with workers with families to support.

Van Hollen is right up there with Stephanie Cutter, others who are middle aged good looking well spoken and yet every other word is a lie, distortion or leaves out key items. We need to conquer these types if we want to win in November. They make everything seem so true when in actuality all they do is lie all the time.

I do the same thing. Gives us a “heads up!” Watched Gibbs on Fox and what struck me 1st was the yellow band he was wearing all the while pushing the wonders of ObamaCare!

It was either that or close the doors. You gotta remember Miami South Fla.is infamous for fraud, deception and criminality in both the welfare and insurance systems.

There are people/criminals in dade/broward counties who stage wrecks and then go to certain doctors who go to certain lawyers who go to certain judges and then receive almost fixed amounts without even going to court. "Out of court settlements" are common since it costs so much to litigate. Its so easy to collect 10k-50k that huge criminal groups are out there doing it and ground zero is South Fla. the stolen car/third world capital of the world.

Rodguy, be sure to watch FNS when it’s on. I have never heard any Democrat lie and spin as fast as Gibbs did. He was much better than Axelrod, unless one knows the truth. It amazes me that he might believe what he’s saying. Talk about living in a bubble of fantasy!

I’d have to look at it again but if I remember right tort reform included caps on lawsuits and a loser pays provision to stop frivolous lawsuits.
