Tropical Storm Isaac
NOAA/NHC ^ | 22 August 2012 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 08/22/2012 1:47:19 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Tropical Storm Isaac threatens to dampen the Republican National Convention Monday in Tampa, Florida. National media outlets are having a grand time anticipating a Grand Old Party washout. Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn (D) announced Wednesday that he is absolutely prepared to call off the convention next week, with anticipated attendance of 70,000 delegates, party officials, journalists, protesters and others. Buckhorn has not indicated that he would attempt to mitigate liberal protests or a hastily planned Joe "Plugs" Biden visit to Tampa during the convention.

Time will tell. Stay tuned...

I think hurricane Obama is just about over! This one and the one in office.
You stay cool. Sorry to hear about your mom. I’m sure I will bump into you around the blogosphere.

That was a big nothing

I officially re-name this storm:

obama

LOL! Disorganized and fickle, with lots of hot air for sure. Some convection firing up WNW of Key West now.

Thanks RG. It was hard but I don’t think there is any getting over losing your mom...you just learn to live with it. We were real close, as my Dad died when I was still a teenager. I took care of her all through her cancer battles. She was an awesome woman.

See ya around the joint!! Take care.

This is the St. Charles Parish EOC with an important message regarding the tropical system Isaac. The EOC is fully activated and taking actions for preparation for this storm, with the parish currently being under a hurricane watch. Parish President V.J. St. Pierre has declared a state of emergency.

Due to the severity of storm surge and flooding, an evacuation could be called as early as this evening. Residents who wish to leave before an evacuation is called are encouraged to do so. Information on assisted evacuation will be forthcoming. During the storm, the loss of power along with parish and emergency services should be expected. All losses of power should be reported to 1-800-ENTERGY.

Also, public schools in St. Charles Parish have been cancelled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sandbag locations are currently being stocked, and residents are encouraged to prepare their homes for hurricane conditions

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal called a state of emergency in Louisiana as Tropical Storm Isaac’s path moved west. He suggests that people leave low-lying parts of coastal parishes.

Isaac is expected to be a strong Category 2 hurricane at landfall Wednesday.

Grand Isle police say the mayor ordered evacuation Sunday for campers and tourists and Monday for residents.

Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, Jefferson and St. Charles parishes all have declared a state of emergency.

St. Charles Parish schools are closed through Wednesday.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu says that for now, he expects New Orleans residents to shelter in place. But he says that if New Orleans is evacuated, there won’t be any shelter.

The New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Track ordered evacuation of about 700 horses from its stables.

I think it will be Galveston/Houston; they, not N’Orleans, should prepare.
