Your average Missourian elected a dead guy as governor. All bets are off.
Senator. Just ask John Ashcroft.
It's called the LAW...
Currently the LAW states a candidate has until six weeks prior to the election to remove his name from the ballot, or Sept.25.Only Akin can do it. And he must petition the courts to do so. They will render a decision. Even so it is still not final. The Missouri SOS must consent to this decision. She is Robin Carnahan. A RABID Democrat. She is not standing for election again, so has no reason to "go along to get along." And she has never played well with Republicans.
All this talk by others who say "...Republicans should just remove him," is horse hockey. Akin and only Akin can do so. And it ain't that easy. It would have been up until the 5PM deadline, Tuesday. Now it is much more complicated. Much more. And subject to manipulations by our SOS...
Again, it's the LAW...
