Its #ing amazing how much support Romney gets despite his voting record on abortion, yet this guy gets persecuted for a valueless adjective and a dubious theory. Nothing but petulance and hypocrisy at extreme levels.
That is exactly what I understand is resonating at the local levels in Missouri. Thankfully, it appears the GOP has shifted into "no comment" mode for damage control, which I think is wise. But it will take a week for that message to trickle down to the blog level. But, give it a week. I firmly believe the coming outlook is far rosier than fellow FReepers would have us believe today. The knee jerk is over.

amazing how much support Romney gets despite his voting record on abortion, Not really. Romney was nominated knowing full well he is a flip flopping RINO who had conveniently entered the primary claiming to have had a "change of heart" on his views on abortion.
Don't blame me I voted for Newt.

I hope you are correct. It’s been very depressing realizing what kind of party I belong to.

Get a clue. It doesnt matter what the GOP says or thinks. Either way, Akin is toast. Its not whether you or I can overlook his comment, its what the other voters do, and what McCaskill campaign will do with it to defeat Akin. his gaffe makes him unelectable and he has a yawning gender gap.
The ONLY way to salvage this situation is for Akin to step aside - selfishly he didnt.
MEANWHILE, OBAMA WILL USE AKIN AS A FOIL IN HIS CAMPAIGN:
“The interesting thing here is that this is an individual who sits on the House Committee on Science and Technology but somehow missed science class,” the President said. “But it’s representative of a desire to go backwards instead of forwards. And fights that we thought were settled 20, 30 years ago.”
