From the RNC:
Republican National Convention President and CEO Bill Harris made the following statement: Our chief priority is the safety of the residents of Florida, of those visiting the Convention, and all those in Gulf Coast states who may be impacted by Tropical Storm Isaac. We have been working closely with the campaign, the party, and state and local officials for months to ensure a successful, enjoyable convention. Federal, state and local officials assure us that they are prepared to respond, if needed, and the scheduling changes we are announcing today will help ensure the continued safety of all participants our foremost concern. We are also committed to keeping the delegates and guests of the convention well informed about the situation, and we will continue providing updates in the hours and days ahead.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus made the following statement: Due to the severe weather reports for the Tampa Bay area, the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th. After consulting with Governor Scott, NOAA and local emergency management officials, we are optimistic that we will begin an exciting, robust convention that will nominate the Romney-Ryan ticket.
team Romney, please feel free to paraphrase that however you want. ;o)
poo
Jumping the gun.
If the storm slows down and doesn’t hit the area until Tuesday or Wednesday they are forked.
Guy really isn't doing the Conservative thing at all ~ strange words for him ~ peace, freedom, defense, individual rights, .......
Maybe it keeps the leftist riff raff off the streets of Tampa with the rains. Maybe the DNC has wonderful weather that brings out all the occutards doing their trashy things.
We shall see what we shall see.
This is a mistake; they are being played and hyped by the weather channel and MSM; and being blackmailed by the MSM “ we will show you to be insensitive” etc etc
I think the news is awesome....the OWS crowd is done for. Police will block all of the roads off and away due to flooding for at least 2 to 3 days. Oh well! Don’t fret OWS losers...you have the DNC one just a few states away a week later!
Second convention in a row impacted by a hurricane. God must not like RINOs.
So does this mean Romneys speech would be Thursday? If so, isn’t the first NFL Thirsday night game that night??
Wasn’t Monday the day that Huckaboo’s speech was slated? Have to admit, that was my first thought, wondering if it had less to do with Isaac, and more to do with a retaliatory move towards Huck for supporting Akin against the RNC/ticket’s wishes.
Did the same thing in 2008....the right move for sure. The networks were not going to air Monday anyway so it won’t have any negative impact but can definitely have a positive one. Just hope this doesn’t get too strong. Do NOT WANT A NATIONAL DISASTER BUMPING OBAMA in the polls.
Yes, Huckabee is now scrapped unless some or all Monday speakers are rescheduled; but dunno how.
I think the GOP is being played and manipulated. WTF do they do if the storm turns further west and takes longer to hit land?
I still think they are best off encouraging delegates to arrive on Saturday or Sunday, doing the convention while the streets outside are too drenched with rain for OWS protesters. Then conclude the convention and leave before OWS can get themselves organized.
Very good move. Showing the National Hurricane Center that they aren’t going to shut down may result in coverage instead of hyperbole and real landfall and intensity predictions (like west of Mobile Bay at a Cat 1).
Romney was always scheduled for Thurs night - this will remain.
As to NFL, no it is the following week.
I don’t get your point.
OWS will have to spend their parents trust fund money somewhere else than Tampa.
