I couldn’t agree more with Lincoln as I’m siure you do.
The country, at minimum, is going socialist or worse regardless who is elected as neither can run on their record which proves it.
As for us, we are punching air, but stopping actually nothing.
An essay written in 1992 called The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012 asserted that the cause was the blurring of the military role by pushing the military more and more in to doing civilian functions.
(Remember, Bill Clinton was elected president in 1992 and that meant the campus psycho spoiled brats had the power to convert the American military to largely civilian use. "Bring it all down, man." Now look what we got!)
Over the years leading to 2012 the civilian side had become so incompetent, distrusted and corrupt that the military had to neglect its military functions to handle civilian functions. That led to a disastrous Middle Eastern defeat when they were ordered into battle ill-prepared and ill-equipped.
I did not read the essay. I did read that it was well-received by Pentagon brass all the way to the top back then.
