Its bad enough for Republicans that Akin has put the Missouri Senate seat at risk. And threatened the Republican campaign to win a Senate majority. And introduced a highly divisive social issue into the GOP campaign. And shifted the debate away from jobs and the economy, where President Barack Obama is vulnerable.

I realize this isn’t a good source, but it makes some valid points. Todd Akin has not only probably blown a race he was favored to win, but has become a major distraction from the conservative message to the American people.
Another asinine article by Schneider. Romney quickly shut Akin down. Akin has changed statement. Media wants to keep playing it. Look at all Democrat candidates who make statements counter to Obama.
No doubt.
Akin’s stupidity and selfishness have done a tremendous amount of harm to the conservative cause.
He seems determined to lose the Missouri Senate seat for us. I hope he doesn’t drag down others along with him, but it seems a likely outcome.
Has Akin helped or hurt Romney? Has Romney helped or hurt Akin?
Two facts which should remain in focus: Akin is a conservative and Romney is a liberal.
Todd Akin will cause a 20 meter sea level rise over the next 50 years if he isn’t stopped now.
“Todd Akin has not only probably blown a race he was favored to win, but has become a major distraction from the conservative message to the American people.”
That is why many of us are wanting him to quit. He’s become an ace in the hole for the Democrats’ campaign of distraction, and will continue to provide valuable service to Democrats while a candidate. Democrats will tryo to tie every Republicans to ‘legitimate rape’ and make it sound like the GOP is pro-rape. An excuse to change the subject from Obama’s massive and total failure on jobs, the economy and the budget.
And what message could that be??? That grassroots American delegates need not attend?? Get real.

Todd Akin gave it ALL away when he said:”This Isn’t About Me”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One would hope that someone close to Akin could reason with him, but apparently that’s not the case.
I wonder what he’s going to fill like when McCaskill is declared the winner about 5 minutes after the polls close in Missouri? Will he still be in denial? Will he realize he let his stupidity and ego cost the nation dearly?
Why is he so intent on becoming 2012’s Sharon Angle?
Todd Akin is going to be soundly defeated and humiliated but before he leaves the national stage he will unwittingly do incredible damage to the conservative and pro-life movement.
Todd it is time to step aside. You have become a huge distraction and drag on your party and the causes you claim to be so close and dear to your heart.
Every news cycle mentions your gaffe and deletes time spent on discussing the abysmal state of the economy. When is Todd going to step aside and do the right thing? Is he really so blind and cannot see all the damage he is doing?
I feel sorry for the guy. He could have been a U.S. senator but he was careless and reckless when he should have been disciplined, focused and compassionate when he answered a deadly serious question. He has fatally damaged his chances to defeat McCaskill. He needs to allow someone else who is not fatally damaged to lead the fight against McCaskill and liberals.
Interesting thread written by Michelle Malkin. Incidentally, Malkin called on Akin to drop out of the race.
The American public doesn’t care about Akin. If Democrats (outside of Missouri) try to run against Akin that will look completely lame and phony. I don’t often put a lot of faith in the voting public but I’m sure they are concerned about the economy and not some obscure Missouri candidate.
Everyone will forget about Akin in a week (most have forgetten about him already).
I have to agree...I am a staunch conservative. A Tea Party wanna-be...I don;t give a damned about what Akin said. I’ve said worse in front of my boss and I still have a job. The media keeps Akin alive and we debate and argue over it...we are idiots!
She’s choking on her words now —
I like Akin and I don’t think he’s dragging anybody down.
It was an imprecise choice of words, so what? Like he’s pro-rape. What has he ever done or said, or how has he ever voted, to lead to that conclusion? He just meant to qualify his statement to mean convicted assaultive rape as opposed to alleged or statutory rape. And he’s right.
Yes, he should have said “proven” rape, so what? Those of us who follow the MSM to the lynching field should turn back. Akin didn’t do anything wrong.
