Mitt Romney officially clinched the GOP presidential nomination on Tuesday to move a step closer in his five-year quest for the White House.

To roaring cheers at the Republican National Convention in the packed Tampa Bay Times Forum, the delegation from New Jersey put Romney above the 1,144-delegate threshold, ensuring he will be the GOP challenger against President Barack Obama in November.

Earlier, the 2,200-plus convention delegates approved a conservative platform that called for less government, opposed same-sex marriage and endorsed a "human life amendment" to ban abortion with no specific exceptions for cases of rape, incest or when the mother's life is threatened.

Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, will be formally nominated on Thursday, and Romney's acceptance speech that night will conclude the convention that had its agenda delayed by Hurricane Isaac.

With the storm churning toward landfall in Louisiana, Republican officials appeared determined to stick to a tightened three-day schedule that kicked into full gear on Tuesday with official business and speeches accusing Obama of failed leadership and undermining the American dream...

I’d vote for mitt so at least you can say you voted

I got this far and thought my time would be wasted reading anymore. Who/When you vote it has no reflection on what I say - can you at least understand that? Don't answer - I'm really not interested in hearing from any of your confusion.

He’s not a tame God, you know.

I don't believe those voting for the godless think about God. They may drop His Name for some credibility but that would be taking His Name in vain for their godless agenda.

God is silent to those with no ears to hear HIM and when His Wrath comes it will be too late to listen. Some are just hell bent to learn the hard way for It is Written in His Word that they know not.

Your lack of understanding is tiresome and is your talking points rhetoric. OLD and TIRESOME - give it a rest. Your amusement hasn’t come yet.

Nothing’s going to change over just one election cycle. FDR didn’t change everything in one term. We have to fight hard year to year, but keep the long game in mind - getting our Constitutional Republic back.

INDEED!

But this leaves a gnawing, two-part question in my mind: Why can't we on the Right understand this and where is our patience?

The pain you feel today is the strength you'll have tomorrow.

I don’t know. We don’t seem to be able to handle our ideology in a pragmatic manner. Some do, but plenty don’t. I’m in Cook County, Illinois - America’s North Korea. I have to be practical if I want to gain an inch.

What I suspect is that the most petulant among us come from areas with few liberals and so they’re not used to compromising and see any compromise as surrender. Or they’re Christians who find Romney’s LDS beliefs so offensive that they cannot accept him.

They do not mean a word of what they say. I believed for 40 years... I do not believe that any republican leader today cares about anything but themselves and their wealth and power.

An argument can be made that voting for either of the two main candidates is voting for the godless, as you put it.

Ask yourself, if Obama wins, are you prepared to deal with the theological implications?

Best,

Yes, exactly.

This isn’t about electing Romney as much as it is stopping 0bama and Holder.

I DO NOT want them selecting the next SCOTUS appointee — Romney may or may not appoint a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but 0bama WILL appoint another Kagan or Sodameyor.

What choice do we have? Romney certainly is not my “cup of tea” but I will vote for him and encourage everyone else I know to do so as well.

It is time to put aside my reservations with Romney and do what is best for America.
Remember that country? - you will not after another 4 years under obama hussein gone wild, with Holder, the EPA, the HHS, the TSA and homeland security unleashed on us like a pack of ravening dogs

I completely agree, SC. Four more years of this regime and irreparable damage would be done to the Republic.

Would you prefer a Ryan presidency over a Romney presidency? If you’re a conservative, you’d agree with me. A Ryan presidency is far from a pipe dream; it could very well be a reality. Of course, we have to vote Romney in to office before Ryan can take the Presidency.

This is the best possible way to not only get the rap musician admirer out of office, but also a genuine conservative in office. If you have reservations about imprecatory prayers, you can pray that Romney decides to ‘spend time with his family’ soon after winning office. Being satisfied with a Romney presidency is akin to being satisfied with a 90% taxation rate.

If you don’t pray, you might just pay!

I'm sorry, I think it is evil to wish a man dead unless he is truly monstrous (Pol Pot, Saddam, Hitler, Mao, Stalin). Do you feel that Gov. Romney is such an individual?
