New York Times Editor: Ann Romney 'Slipped The Knife' Into President Obama
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

TAMPA, Florida | August 29, 2012: To Republicans in the RNC convention hall last night, and surely to the majority of Americans watching at home, regardless of their politics, Ann Romney came across as a warm, kind and caring woman.

But the editors of the New York Times occupy a very different universe. In a nasty piece of work this morning, editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal painted an ugly picture of Ann Romney. Using the most violent of metaphors, Rosenthal saw a woman who, of all things, had "slipped a knife into President Obama." More after the jump.

I posted this on another thread, but here’s how I think Ann Romney “slipped the knife” to the Obama campaign. I take comfort in the fact that the NYT felt the need to disparage this speech......

As someone who was for Sarah Palin, then Herman Cain, then Newt Gingrich, and I even liked Rick Santorum over Romney, I’m beginning to think we may have gotten lucky to end up with Romney-Ryan.

Getting Obama out has trumped all other considerations for me.

I think the Ann Romney speech may be a game-breaker. First of all, she managed to put me more at ease with Mitt Romney, no small task.

When she walked out on stage, I said to myself “Wow, she is so beautiful”. I felt it was critical that her speech would provide a great contrast to Michelle Obama. I think she accomplished much, much more than that.

Ann Romney’s words, actions, and tone on that stage provided a stark contrast with all liberal women, without a disparaging word. Ann Romney was at once a throwback to a time that many women now are longing for, and a call to what the future could be for all women.

At first, I saw some giddiness, and some girlish laughter that I wasn’t sure I liked. Then, as the speech went on, I realized her femininity was becoming, refreshing, apropriate, and exciting to see on that stage.

Contrast the vibe you got from Ann Romney with the angry, women-as-victims tone from the women of the left. If you haven’t seen this speech, please try to watch it and while watching it, think of the chasm between Ann Romney and Hillary Clinton.

If you’ve seen the speech, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

If this speech was designed to get women out there to re-think their support for the Democratic Party as surrogate husband, then I think she may have gotten some converts. Therein lies the power in Ann Romney’s speech.

Therein lies the reason the NYT thought this speech something to fear.

“Rosenthal has to be related to Giorgio:”

I was thinking more along the lines of Hilton Perez...

I hate this. I knew the Left would make me like Romney and his wife in spite of myself. Geez. I'm even liking Priebus after watching Matthews head explode. This is like having to root for the Soviets in WWII.

...it was a very sweet and subtle knife...

Let me see..canape knives are cute, fruit knives look charming, and butter knives are just down right adorable. But all the above could be deadly...I'm just saying. This writer is a racist inciting idiot. Oh, I forgot there is a double standard with the libs. Over the next few weeks its going to be fun watching their heads explode...politically of course. :-)

The NYT’s problem with Ann was that she was 1) likeable, 2) actually in love with her hubby, and 3) much, much more believable than Mooch-elle, the (anti) food lady.

What a funny charge coming from the Diva editor of the Times who owes his job to nepotism as his father served the same position at the same newspaper.

I'm sure Andrew Rosenthal of the New York Times will treat Mrs. Obama to the same types of comments. Expect him to point out that Mrs. Obama's speech was 'well written' - implying a speech writer ( does this creep believe Mrs Obama will stand up and give an off-the-cuff speech? Or that Mrs Romney would?)

Will Andrew snidely point out the obvious when it's the wife of the man he's voting for? Don't count on it.

His surprise that a speech at a political convention might be political? What's next? With a roll of the eyes a comment that there was a meeting in a school that dealt with education? Or newsroom that dealt with news?

Yeah, I'm waiting to see Andrew's crisp clean unbiased comments about Mrs. Obama's speech. HA. For Mrs. Obama we can expect blinders, delusions and fawning - the Times in full suck-up mode. None of the pointing out that her speech might have political elements in it... Nope. No way will that be pointed out...

But we'll have to wait and see. Andrew might try to be fair now that he knows we're on to him. Guess the Times will have to assign a different writer to Mrs. Obama so their biases and double standards aren't so obvious.. and easy to compare.

The left acts as if any criticism of Obama is equivalent to using the N-word.

I think in his effort to be sarcastic and belittling he is telling us the truth of what has him terrified!
Ann Romney slipped a knife into Obama last night and the libs weren’t expecting it and they are scared.
Christie gave it a twist or two. I am looking forward to what’s next!

I was on the live thread last night, over 1,000 posts,a lot for our weakened fr. After Ann's speech I posted in all caps:

WE WIN!!

I think it was that good.

All by herself Ann Romney just bridged the one gap that could have cost us the election, the gap with women. She closed it once and for all.

We win, they lose.

America will get a second chance.

I have to say that I was not impressed. Did not like the part about how it’s the poor women who have to work harder. So sick of male bashing.

“Falsely accusing a white woman of stabbing a half black man sounds like racism to me.”

Well, at least she didn’t lynch him or put him in chains with her comment.

Or did she? Racist, no matter what she said.

“Here’s how you get him. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way!”

The boys at the New York Times never heard the above comment - and will do everything they can to make sure other Americans don't hear it either.

If Republican's had said it, itd be front page news.

Not that the Times 'family' isn't a bunch of biased assh*les with more attitude than talent... How much respect can we give people who are destroying a general circulation newspaper for the sake of their biases and hatred for conservative Americans? ZERO. Zero respect.
