Smarter than horses by far. That is where the mule gets his brains.

Atascosa County is a major player in the recent oil/gas boom going on in S. Texas.

These animals can see behind them, why they put binders on horses

and mules.

I got kicked by a Charlois about ten yrs ago and got two screws in

My leg as a result.

Ya gotta be careful getting behind a animal

Donkeys hate coyotes, donkeys hate predators in general. A 500# would be a load for those predators that seek an easy meal.

My FIL raised miniature donkeys and they were a handful to deal with, especially the jacks. They can kick sideways, have a really nasty bite and you can NOT sneak up anywhere close to them. They can and do fight with dogs that got into the pasture and it was always the dog being chased by the jack that we had to rescue.

Here in Texas, if you see a field with cows in it, you are very likely to see a donkey in with them for protection.

Any critters coming on the property not suppose to be there; the donkey will kick the hell out of them possibly resulting in death. A lot of ranchers over the years have used them to protect their stock. I never want to be on the end of that kind of kick. Not sure if the donkeys can kick sideways like horses can.

So some of them can kick sideways like horses. Wasn’t sure.

Donkeys are ornery, stubborn and fearless.

Controlling the coyote population - BBC wildlife (video 1:46, short video of donkeys and llamas protecting sheep from coyotes)

Donkey kicking camels (video 0:14)

Horse Versus Donkey
(video 5:57 - 350 lb donkey giving 1,250 lb horse pure hell. Neither one gets serious though they're just playing.)

“There is a video floating around of a donkey swinging a mountain lion around by it’s tail.”

Found pictures with the story, amazing! Notices the dogs siting and watching.

Donkeys will go after and kill coyotes, and even mountain lions.

They will also dance a fandango on a rattle-snake's head and turn one into a mudhole.

This guy was apparently quite a stud. From another article about this:

Bohlke, who was in his 60s, served in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring in 1990. He was a B-52 instructor pilot and squadron commander and served in the Vietnam War. He earned 10 air medals and three Distinguished Flying Crosses.

Lot of folks with horses keep a donkey in their pasture for the same reason.

My friend’s donkey let the goat out of its stall, killed it and threw it in a drainage ditch. They are smart and can be really mean.

That's because donkeys have big castanets.

Arriba!
