Until recently I had no idea Maddow was a chick, I thought he was a teenage boy LOL. I think people will see BOTH conventions and see what kind of country they want for themselves and their children..the GOP Convention represents prosperity, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..the DNC Convention will be about free abortions and women dressed as vaginas..gee decisions decisions

The line about “college grads living out their 20’s in the bedrooms they grew up in with their faded Obama posters...” line needs to be put into a commercial!! Not the actual line, but the people themselves!

Palin did hit Obama hard with her speech but, it was big on insults with little on substance. I like Sarah a lot, but her speech in 2008 wasn’t as intelligent or genuine as Ryan’s speech tonight, and Ryan comes across as a little more serious.

What substance was there to hit Obama on then? She mentioned a few of his votes as I recall. And she nailed him on being not much more than a community organizer. That was all the substance there was to work with. Since he had never done anything or had a real job, there wasn't a record for her to point to.

I think Sarah in her speech had a powerful sense of gravitas like few women have, combined with a kind of middle-American glamour that helped make her speech electrifying. I think Ryan rose to the occasion and made a speech that was about as strong and effective as Sarah's. I'd still give the edge to hers though. I think she characterized Obama better, defined him better as a person that wasn't right for the presidency. Ryan was a little dryer than that, running through the facts and figures and his record, but not personifying him enough as a negative character.

Get the Senate and Ryan is the deciding vote.

Sure beats 4 more years of Obama.

Did Obama give a speech tonight? Surely she wasn’t talking about that evil republican who wants to take away women’s rights and throw grandma over the cliff /sarc

Portman was ok, not overly inspiring as the speeches went this evening, but he is one of my Senators and I like him. Condi was excellent...so, you think something domestic this time around...Health & Human Services...or maybe the one to head and ‘dismantle’ DHS? Susana Mattinez was right on, and obviously from her speech tonight is pro 2nd Amendment, and it is not unnoticed that the only, ever, female Hispanic Governor is a Republican. Paul Ryan hit it out of the park.
All of this is just my humble opinion...

My father in law is a very wise man. I remember him telling me years ago, before Fox...that all he wanted was HONESTY in his media. He didn’t seek a biased slant in our favor..... Only a fair shake.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Fox...but if they forget who sent them to the top and turn on us....we are duty bound by our convictions to abandon them.

I hope my wonderful father in law lives to see the day when we truly get a fair shake..I hope we all live to see that day...because we win every time when we are allowed to play on the battlefield of ideas.

Malarky. How much is “America for Obama” paying you? Nobody. And I mean NOBODY, with half a brain that loves this country is going to allow Obama another four years and more SCOTUS picks to finish off this country.

Sorry, that’s a mistaken perception. This is more than just “a storm with rain.” It’s not Hurricane Andrew or Camille, but it’s not a joke either, and friends who live in LA tell me that there is 12 feet of water in local houses. Things would have been far worse if the Army Corps of Engineers had not rebuilt the levees so strongly after Katrina.

I have not watched Network news since David Brinkley died!
tHEY all STINK...and Faux news is rapidly sinking into the same gutter as CNN et al!

Apples and oranges.... Obama had no record as President and very little history in the way of votes. He was very inexperienced, but the media gave him a pass because he was a black democrat. Palin did not have 3.5 years of failure to address and pick apart like Ryan did tonight. Why does everyone pile on Sarah? It’s really amazing how people in both parties drink the kool aid when it comes to her.

“I wonder if Olberman survived the speech?”

Maybe he tried to stick a knife in it...and poked a hole in his chest instead...
