Romney: 'My Country Deserves Better!' (Acceptance speech excerpts)
Weekly Standard ^

Posted on 08/30/2012 5:06:27 PM PDT by GOPinCa

Here are excerpts of the remarks Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney plans to deliver this evening in Tampa, Florida:

Four years ago, I know that many Americans felt a fresh excitement about the possibilities of a new president. That president was not the choice of our party but Americans always come together after elections. We are a good and generous people who are united by so much more than divides us.

When that hard fought election was over, when the yard signs came down and the television commercials finally came off the air, Americans were eager to go back to work, to live our lives the way Americans always have – optimistic and positive and confident in the future.

That very optimism is uniquely American.

It is what brought us to America. We are a nation of immigrants. We are the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the ones who wanted a better life, the driven ones, the ones who woke up at night hearing that voice telling them that life in that place called America could be better.

They came not just in pursuit of the riches of this world but for the richness of this life.

***

Every family in America wanted this to be a time when they could get ahead a little more, put aside a little more for college, do more for their elderly mom who’s living alone now or give a little more to their church or charity.

“I am voting for Romney, but I didn’t vote for any Bush, McCain or Dole! Mine is NOT one of those reliable votes you refer to.”

Ok. You’re late to the party, but you are voting for the most leftist of them all and empowering the GOPe. Romney’s public record is appalling in every respect, and he wants to “sodomize” the Boy Scouts.

I didn't even have to name what liberals I wouldn't be voting for, and you assume that Romney is on the list. Shows how conservative your boy is.

I haven't spent 12 years at FR because I support marxists, or liberals, or republicans. I support conservatives.

And won’t you be proud for playing your part in that.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yes very proud for not supporting a bunch of progressive RINO Republicans who merely pay lip service to the people and then role out a bunch of conservative platitudes every 4 years to hoodwink all they can. They are no better than the liberal fascists of the Obama Movement.I do hope the RINO Plastered GOP looses and destroys itself in the process.

EFF THEM. RIGHT NOW.

EFF THEM. RIGHT NOW

That will make a fine epitaph for our Nation after 0bama gets done with it.

And he'll have you and others like you to thank for that.

No you support an Islamic marxist. This isn’t some game, its real life and its made of hard choices. Option A or Option B. The time for supporting others has come and gone.

Regardless of how many times you say it, I don't support any liberal. If the GOP wants my vote, they need to run a conservative, quit trashtalking conservatives (Rove) and quit with the dirty tricks and cheating (Florida, Virginia, etc).

You need to back off with the insults, per JR's request.

I'll vote my concience and principles, you vote yours.

I’m not late to the party, I voted for Reagan, didn’t vote for those others because they were establishment candidates that were not fiscally conservative. I was a tea party guy 25 years before the tea party was created.

Rather than stand and be counted with the ones who can stop Obama in November, they wash their hands under a rubric of piety. They're cowards. They're collaborators. They're useful idiots.

Piety, cowards, maybe?

I think it's a matter of them being paralyzed to inaction by Mitt's liberal (lying) past. They can't work with that. The possibility that Mitt now might be conservative even if it's a small possibility, because he has talked conservative for the last 6 years, doesn't matter to them. They'd rather choose inaction and the sure death and destruction Obama will bring instead of take the chance on the greasy one with the liberal record who now talks conservative.

Read the excerpts from the link. Yes. America does deserve better. Instead it has Romney, who is better than Obama, but that’s hardly saying anything.

Just because the truth hurts, does not make it a personal attack. You need a reality check. You must choose between two people you don’t like, right now. You can choose your personal Reagan for 2016, but you had better get started on that, right now, as well.

And civil disobedience is exactly what RINO Romney and the RINO GOP deserve.

Of course Romney and the GOP deserve civil disobedience. But unfortunately there is more at stake than seeing to it that they are punished. They should be dealt with at the right time. We tried during the primaries. We will try again if he is elected. Now is not the time.

What you are doing is called cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Obama thanks the entire present GOP idjit RINOS for their support, including you.

Future generations of the unborn don't thank you for saving them from the certain abortionist Obama and taking a chance on the once abortionist who for the last ~six years now claims to be pro life.

With Obama, one has Zero chance.

blacks were still oppressed by mormonism while we were at the movies cheering Luke Skywalker

So wait Romney's a racist because there's no black characters in Star Wars? You sound like Larry O'donnell and Ed Schultz!

LOL

Really like whom? Johnson? He is not a conservative. He is a libertarian. Is the Tea Party running their own candidate? I sat out one election in 1976 and we ended up with Carter...

I don’t devour enough media to know the fact of that, but listening to various local talk radio this morning, I was struck with the same thought as you.

I don’t get how you think that is intelligent, feigning incomprehension (or not) demonstrates the opposite.

He IS a liberal after all! I’d like to have had Ryan - I think he could have won but he’s not the guy we needed to be at the top of the ticket.

Insofar as winning goes, nothing much is going to change no matter who wins in November.

The GOP nominated the weakest and most ineffectual candidate possible. He went after conservatives but will Mitt Happens really go after Obama?

I’m not holding my breath! Even McCain said nice things about his opponent and we all know what happened.

This is one election I’m not personally invested in because I can’t a liberal!

I wasnt planning on offering my critique to anyone outside these discussion boards. :)

Seriously, if candidates tell outright and obvious untruths, it hurts both them and the entire political process. The real answer in such cases is to say nothing at all.

“WOW n00bie..”

Oh no, the all powerful Nana called me a noob...How will I ever survive? I’m not sure I’ll make it but I’ll sure try....

Native American is anyone born...guess where....in America. Children born today are...guess what....Native Americans. If you wish to speak of the people who were here first...the correct term is Aboriginal. I’ll help you out...Websters defines it as - being the first or earliest known of its kind present in a region

“My family arrived here in 1623 ...

mmore than 200 years before Willards did...

They didnt immigrate either...”

They did immigrate. In fact, they were invaders as they were not here originally (aboriginal). They were illegal immigrants to those who were already here. So your high and mighty attitude is for naught (that means for nothing).

Read and educate yourself BEFORE you speak, lest you look like fool, as the old saying goes.
