Rove reportedly said, in addition to the murder joke, some things he did not consider a joke that are incredibly sinister:

At the event, Rove urged attendees to urge Akin to get out of the race, citing Missouri’s Senate race as a major obstacle to Republicans taking over the Senate.

“We have five people who are interested” in replacing Akin as the Senate candidate, Rove said. “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get Akin out.”

I'm really interested in who the "we" is that Rove refers to. (The GOP-E, some elitest group, Rove & his Mom???) This is a fundraiser, and he is speaking to those who could potentially help fund Akin.

Sometimes it's nice to catch a glimpse of the smoky back room.

I was referring to the convention as balanced. I followed some c-span coverage. By the way, Newt spoke and attended the convention as well. Apparently MOST Missouri gop'ers would like akins out. If he overcomes his gaffe and is elected,....well that is the will of his constituents. BTW; things arn't in sharp focus in a 'smoky back room' are they. jus' sayin......

Isn’t Rove only a talking head these days? He has no Republican role does he? He had his say early on, so is it not up to Missouri Repubs and citizens at this point to decide who will represent them?

We can thank Fox News for giving Karl Rove a media platform after the end of his horrendous management of Bush’s 2nd term. Rove should be completely persona non grata in the Republican Party, but for some reason he is held up as a political God.

So, Jonah Goldberg says the GOP would be better off without pro-lifers? Well, I say the GOP would be better off in Rove had indeed been frog marched according to the wishes of Howard Dean. Rove is the GOP version of James Carville.
