LONDON - Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Desmond Tutu called Sunday for Tony Blair and George Bush to face prosecution at the International Criminal Court for their role in the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq

Tutu, the retired Anglican Church's archbishop of South Africa, wrote in an op-ed piece for The Observer newspaper that the ex-leaders of Britain and the United States should be made to "answer for their actions."

The Iraq war "has destabilized and polarized the world to a greater extent than any other conflict in history," wrote Tutu, who was awarded the Nobel prize in 1984.

"Those responsible for this suffering and loss of life should be treading the same path as some of their African and Asian peers who have been made to answer for their actions in the Hague," he added.

Totally bogus premise. And what of 9/11? And what of Obama’s foray into Libya or Africa?

He may have a point but I submit it was Sadam Husein who got that whole ball rolling by invading Kuwait.

I think his slip is showing in that he tries to paint this as a racist concession , mentioning only “Asian and African peers.” The highest profile Hague trials I know of were of the white European Serbs.

ToolTu is a commie at heart, and like all 'good" commies needed to try to make himself "relevant again by speaking of the "atrocities" of those who would hunt down and kill those "freedom fighters" who kill innocents out of frustration at being considered animals who are only defending the "name and honor" of their impotent god.

My God needs no defense by mortal men - He is a big boy who stands on His own...

The Iraq war "has destabilized and polarized the world to a greater extent than any other conflict in history," wrote Tutu,

Tutu wrote the above because he preferred the world do the morally convient thing; ignore the horrors committed by Saddam Husein.

War happens because people like Tutu allow horrors to accumulate until somethjing has to be done.

Tutu is a failed peacenik in the mold of Jimmy Carter....his ridding of white apartheid in South Africa only brought in worse Black Apartheid for both blacks and whites.

Bush and Blair are far from war criminals. If they are war criminals, then what was Franklin Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson?

Bush and Blair’s only problem was that they were too concerned with peacenuts like Tutu....and not executing the military action stronger...Bush’s “Islam is a religion of peace” comments showed a lack of committment to truly eradicate Islamic Terrorism
