Democrats Boo God, Cheer Bill Clinton
Conservative HQ ^ | 6 Sep 12 | CHQ Staff

It was a truly astonishing spectacle at Wednesday’s Democratic National Convention. Bill Clinton, the once disgraced former President was cheered, while amending the Democratic Party platform to include a single reference to God as the source of human potential was jeered and booed.

Nothing speaks louder to what is at stake in this election than the reaction of rank and file Democratic Convention delegates to referencing God in their Party platform.

Look at the pictures and video of the moment the convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, ruled that the amendments had been approved despite the fact that a large group of delegates objected. It wasn’t indifference or mere convention rowdiness -- it was red-faced anger and gut-level hostility.

The Democratic Party has long-been a bastion of the kind of secular liberalism that views religion as some kind of quaint superstition held by ignorant people out in the boondocks, but this was something different.

It was a collective howl against the strictures and structure of traditional Judeo-Christian values and society.

And it more than explains the rest of the Democratic Party’s platform.

By adopting a platform which calls for the end of government support for the Judeo-Christian definition of marriage, Democrats put themselves squarely on the side of “change” not just intended to reorganize the government, but “change” intended to overturn the organizational structure of American society.

It is difficult to imagine what a profound change this would have on American society and religious life.

The Obama administration’s war on religion would continue at an ever increasing pace, because federal government coercion would be the only way to enforce this new social organization on churches and believers who practice their faith in their everyday lives.

The current 40-some lawsuits against Obamacare brought by various groups affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church to protest the law’s requirements that breach Church teachings would pale in comparison to the society wide upheaval a federal legal requirement to recognize same-sex marriage would have.

No major political party has ever advocated as its policy such a deep and profoundly unsettling change to American society. Yet, judging by their reaction to the addition of a single reference to God in their Party’s platform, that is exactly what the rank and file delegates to the Democratic National Convention want.

Political campaigns are usually about matters squarely in the world of human affairs: how much money we should spend on various activities of government, should the government build roads and airports or furnish certain services... but this is different. This year, the central issue in the campaign is whether the America the Democrats envision -- a state devoid of the basic principles of Judeo-Christian social organization -- would still be an America the rest of us would recognize.

And the Clintons think so much of our Lord that they hung condoms on their White House Christmas tree.

This reporter I mentioned earlier said he asked a Jewish delegate about the Israel capital plank. He said they guy went berzerk. Yelling, eyes popping about how the Evangelicals pretend to be Israel’s friend but really want to kill every Jew.

If the Devil himself got up at the Democratic Convention and gave a speech in favor of abortion, illegal immigrants, gun control, and raising taxes, I’m sure he’d get a hearty round of applause (might make for a good South Park episode).

There were no “nays.” Villaraigosa had them saying “no.” Is that proper parliamentary procedure?

They had to depart the Charlotte International airport, at a minimum cross over Billy Graham Parkway, if not actually travel on it, go within striking distance of the Billy Graham library, and head across Graham Street on their way to the Convention Center on 333 Trade Street (Trinitarian?), at which point they disavowed God in the town famous as the birthplace of, and homebase for the most traveled Christian evangelist in history.

And the place where Atheists in June hung up some of their initial pro-Atheism billboards on Billy Graham Pkwy.

Coincidence that the Democratic Party in-your-face, courted the atheist vote in Billy Graham’s, Charlotte, North Carolina?

And if it isn’t proper parliamentary, is in non-binding?

Yelling, eyes popping about how the Evangelicals pretend to be Israel’s friend but really want to kill every Jew.

Crazy. American evangelicals are among the best friends Israel ever had.

Bingo! And who better represents their sexual morals than Bill Clinton?

(Except that, so far as we know, Bill hasn't done it with other men or animals.)
