(Reuters) - President Barack Obama regained some footing and overtook his Republican rival Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday, a day after the end of the Democratic convention.

In what appears to be a convention-induced bounce, Obama jumped ahead in the latest daily tracking poll with 46 percent of 1,434 likely voters saying...

Reuters trying their hardest to get the ‘word’ out for their Dear Leader. They took a quick poll (Friday -had to be in the “am”, because they released it by 4pm), and they said it was a ‘4 day’ rolling average, so it had portions that did not even include the GOD and JERUSALEM fiasco of Wed.

Ras agrees and gives Obama a two point lead at this point. I believe Obama may well pad this lead through about mid-week next week. However, I also believe that will be his high water mark and that worsening economic data, the Republican financial advantage, the fading of memories of the convention, and the debates will erode that lead and Romney/Ryan will prevail in November.

FWIW, Rass is showing a 2 point O lead this morning and he claims O’s magical bounce thus far looks bigger than Romney’s.

I keep hearing that Romney had to sit on cash til after the convention. By God it’s time to spend spend spend.

Why budget through Nov 6 when you can bury him by Oct 1?

No one should be surprised that obama will get a bit of a bounce after the DNC. Neither should it be alarming. Since nothing dramatic actually happened there except the usual rhetorical excess, I would expect any bump to evaporate in the light of the next week or two, as the grim realities of Obama's America reassert themselves.

Have these polls fully accounted for the booing of God and Obama’s lackluster speech?

I have to believe that many moderate/undecided were truly shocked at booing God, and that this could affect their vote. It will be hard for lots of fair minded people to vote for a Democrat party which can’t even bring itself to honor God in a general way.

i heard Ras on Kudlow this morning....basically his message was this is Romney’s election to lose yet Romney has not done enough to win the election....

no one (electorate) believes obama has any idea or ability how to improve the economy yet at the same time Romney has blown it to date by not giving enough detail on his plan to improve the economy or reduce the deficit (i agree with the latter)...

Ras also said the rats have seen a massive short term bounce in voter enthusiasm....he credits clinton’s speech for it and said that while the rats think obama and clinton compare favorably when it comes to the economy and economic growth, Republicans disagree and more importantly, unaffiliated voters think its a joke...

bottom line- Romney needs to show more detail and according to Ras, his campaign executives told him they plan on doing exactly that this month....

Rasmussen has Obama up 2 now. Gallup has Obama up 3.

That strategy of “he’s a nice guy in over his head” is really working wonders.

It’s unf——believable that the GOPe is blowing an election against the biggest disaster in history. I’m sure glad Romney was the electable one (who can’t seem to break mid 40s amidst an economic train wreck).

Remember, the Tea Party won in 2010. The GOPe owns this puppy, Now, unlike the martyrdom crowd, I will crawl over broken glass to vote for Romney. But the realty is, with less than 60 days to go, Obama is now the favorite.

I am so pissed off right now. Perfect time for football to kick off.

I've seen various opinions over the years about which newspaper is lib, which is conservative .. etc.

And now we're being given various "poll results"

WHICH pollster is a good guy and which ain't ?

Settle down. The polls are all over the place, and Romney has been up significantly in a large number of them. If we let ourselves get emotionally drained every time a poll doesn’t go our way, we will run out of gas. Keep focused and enjoy your weekend. Romney and Ryan are very smart, and aren’t going to go the way of the McCain campaign. This is Romney’s race to lose, and I think it is highly likely he will be our next president.

“The rolling four-day online poll was conducted through early Friday. “

which means it was taken prior to the horrible jobs report settling in...fact is the ‘08 election turned on TARP, which was mid-September....besides attacking the failure of obama, Romney best start highlighting some plans and details...

I would like to see an ad detailing the incredible overreach of the many Executive Orders. Obama has been legislating from the WH and I KNOW that the ability to issue Executive Orders did not include changing Law by the wishes of one person.

What is frightening is the amount of people who refuse to acknowledge that Dems have a large part in the responsibility of the economic collapse. Even yesterday, in the USA Today, there were letters citing “eight years of Republican blunders” and another saying “my husband’s laid off but we bought a house... yay ObamaCare.” A third stated “Stimulus package saved the country” and a fourth which said “my sons now have ObamaCare.” I also maintain too many people are afraid to vote against the first biracial/dainty President in US history and have convinced themselves that this is American Idol. If you want Paul on your side forever, rob from Peter. A Dem tactic.

So, after the Democrats booed God and Jerusalem, Obama gained in the polls, and he’s now at 46 percent?

Hitler only won 33 percent of the vote when he ran for election.

Obama has finally found the winning theme for his election, which has worked so well for others in the past — blame the Jews.

“Why budget through Nov 6 when you can bury him by Oct 1?”

Because half the country has the attention span of a fruit fly.

The closer to election day he can pile drive the great pretender, the better.

what’s even more frightening is the fact the GOP bends over and takes it rather than fighting back...
