By Meghashyam Mali - 09/09/12 08:30 PM ET
A police officer in President Obamas motorcade was killed Sunday after being struck by another vehicle.
Palm Beach County Sheriffs spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the motorcycle officer was on Interstate-95, assigned to close the roadway when he was hit by a pickup truck, the AP reported.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the officer.
President Obama was in West Palm Beach, Fla. his second stop in the state Sunday for a rally at the West Palm Beach Convention Center.
Upon his return to Andrews Air Force Base, Obama was notified that the officer in the crash had passed away, said White House press secretary Jay Carney, according to a pool report.
The sheriffs office said an investigation was ongoing and that no charges had been filed yet against the driver of the pickup truck.
There has been a number of similar events when prote ting this pres. really odd.

Poor surviving family members will receive a form letter with a stamped signature when Bath-House Barry is damned well ready to have someone else send condolences (and not before! He’s got a Tee Time!)
This happened also, I believe, when GW Bush was President....very sad.

....and Obama replied
Hey, you got to break a few eggs to make an omelet ....
Anyone “notice” something missing? This happened to Reagan once and he stopped and got right out to help the officer. Hillary dragged an officer beside her limo who was trying to stop her. She not only didn’t stop, but called the PD and threatened them if they spoke.
That is so sad, if the officer had children they will have to live with the burden of going through life explaining why their daddy died, escorting an idiot on a campaign trail.
Maybe in his condolence letter to the grief stricken family ...the campaign will ask for a campaign donation from his death benefits settlement
It actually would not surprise me....
Obama is so unworthy. May this officer rest in peace.
Hey, you got to break a few eggs to make an omelet ....
Clinton at least recognized class even though he has none, Zippy's never heard of it.
Prayers for the officer and his family.
I’m sure obastard will have a staffer send an auto-pen signed letter of condolence...
Bush had 2 police escorts killed, both on motorcycles: New Mexico ‘07 and Hawaii ‘06.
Hillary had an escort killed in Texas in ‘08.
Southerastern PA, IIRC.
Southeastern PA, IIRC.
So that’s what was blocking 95 today. I happened to know a way around it, but they have some heck of kind of wrecks in this area.
You do know that was a made up quote....I did not put “ “ around the statement....
Though I doubt Obama would say something as callous as I posted, I’m sure he could care less...the officer died doing his duty to protect his worthless ass...and probably was an after thought 30 seconds later to Obama
Craig, a native of Scotland and former bodyguard of Queen Victoria, attempted to shield the President with his body, shouting the warning, "Look out! Hold fast!" just as the trolley struck. Craig was killed instantly by the impact, while Roosevelt was thrown clear of the wreck and suffered severe injuries.
Police Officer Bruce St. Laurent was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on the I-95 on-ramp, at 45th Street, at about 5:00 pm.
Officer St. Laurent was assigned to the motorcade escorting President Barack Obama from a campaign event in Palm Beach County. He was struck as he was preparing to close access to the highway from the on-ramp as the presidential motorcade neared. The impact pushed him and the motorcycle into a guardrail.
He was transported to St. Marys Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officer St. Laurent had served with the Jupiter Police Department for 20 years.
