“That’s a lie. We have both the thought police and speech police very active in our “new age” society.

Don’t think so? Say (or think) the wrong words at work and you can lose your job. Say them anywhere and you may find yourself in court.

...

Free speech......I don’t think so.”

The Constitutional protection of speech pertains to political speech directed at the government. It does not protect us, for example, from the legal consequences of libelous speech directed at another private person nor does it protect us from violations of the policies of private employers. This is an important distinction that is sometimes forgotten in contemporary discussions of “political correctness”.

You are correct to some points but not all. Employers will fire an employee for libelous accusations against the business itself but can be sued for firing an employee who does so against a private individual not working for the company. For what reason? Because the company can be fined or sued for what they actually do or say. Some more free speech and thought from the company huh.....no.

To libel someone you must TELL A LIE about them that causes either financial or societal harm to them. Telling the truth is NEVER libel....period!

The thought and speech police also hold entities responsible for anything that is not politically correct...the same as the do individuals. That in turn, makes the employer a subordinate enforcer for the thought and speech police. To comply, they must punish (or fire) the offending employee quickly to demonstrate to the others within ear or eyesight that is what happens to those in our company that don’t toe the political correctness line.

The disease permeates throughout our society and with each year it gets worse.

It’s grown to the point that Orwell would be stupefied to see his 1984 come to life in the late 60’s and to mature to the point that it is today.

In a couple of months, his book will finally reach full application for our society or will simply slow it’s march to fruition with the Republicans.
