My kids pack THEIR lunch. Period. If the nannies don’t like it.....tough $hit.
One day, my youngest wanted to buy his friend a water (on his meal money which we had topped up). The “Lunch Lady” (Gestapo) said that he couldn’t do that.
I was LIVID when he told me. It’s OUR, damned money!!!! He can feed the frikkin’ WORLD if he wants.
The good thing about tyranny is that I get to laugh at all the suckers who suddenly feel betrayed when it turns on them.
My friend’s sister is a lunch lady at the local high school, and she was ready to tar and feather Moochelle.
The first thing they did was take out the salad bar.
The second thing they did was take out the potato bar.
They are no longer allowed to use salt and pepper.... only approved by the government spices..... which hadn’t arrived by the start of school. So they were serving naked ugly veggies.
The kids can get a prepackaged salad if they want..... with 1 (count them.... 1) extra veggie. So, they can have lettuce and carrots, or lettuce and cucumber, or lettuce with tomato.... not lettuce with all three. And the cooks are absolutely forbidden to add cheese to the salad. The kids beg them, and they cannot. So the kids are taking their prepackaged salads and dumping them in the trash at the end of the service line. They aren’t even pretending they will eat them.
Tell me how this is an improvement.
Anyone who thinks kids are fat because of school lunches or that healthier menus will make kids less fat is a Morin. This is rank Do Somethingism. The real reason kids and USians in general are fat is:
A. we’re rich (less tan recently, but relative to most of humanity through all of history) and can therefore afford more food than we need and less moving around than is healthy;
B. fattening food tastes better, and loafishness is easier than doing stuff;
C. consumerism, the welfare state, the Godless pursuit of pleasure, or whatever you think is to blame has rendered us less civilized, more shortsighted, and increasingly prone to live for the present, which means we’re lazy, act to feel good fast, and don’t plan for the future.
I’d like to see school lunches fix that!
