I don't know what is being said but 3-12 hours to make it to the hospital seems a long time. Plus, the one over-the-shoulder image looks like his belted pants are missing.
I hope that he was taken to the hospital and not assaulted as I have been led to believe.

I watched the video a couple of times and I concur with your post....these were the people trying to help the ambassador....
I think they were going to the hospital but were stopped by whoever launched this attack....and took his half dead body...
Then the unspeakable things were done to him...

They appear to be cheering and I don't think it was because they were happy he was alive. If so..perhaps they then had the opportunity to torture him. In the end does it matter which group of barbarians brutally murdered him and then sabotaged the safe house?
