GM recalling almost 474,000 cars over problem with gear shift (Obama's Government Motors)

General Motors Co is recalling 473,841 Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn sedans globally to fix a condition that could lead the cars to roll when the drivers think they are in park, the No. 1 U.S. automaker said on Friday.

GM said it was aware of four crashes that resulted from the problem, but no injuries.

The company said the recall affected Chevy Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura cars from model years 2007 through 2010 and equipped with four-speed automatic transmissions. GM will repair the condition in which the transmission gear position may not match the gear on the shifter.

The recall affects 426,240 in the United States, 40,029 in Canada and 7,572 in other markets.

As with everything else, Government Motors is no improvement over the private
sector GM, which also produced junk. But at least the unions are happy and will vote for the Democrats. That’s what counts.

They should borrow some money from the UAW to fix this.

“Gear shift”?? What’s that? Sounds like ancient history to me.

The real problem is that accountants and marketing run the auto companies. When an engineer in Ford’s driveline engineering told me marketing determined GVWs for trucks, it was a big surprise. It took him about two weeks to find that out.

Didn’t they try to kill Toyota a few years back because they had some recalls? I’d say - destroy Government Motors for this - make an example of them!

Until repairs are made to your car GM is recommending the use of a 4x4 block of wood behind the rear wheel.

I figured maybe the gear shifts were just imitating the company and would only go in REVERSE!

A 4x4 is really a 4x4 in the same way a Chevy Volt is really a car. Both fall a bit short of the name.

It’s Obama Motors cars. They only have a “down low” gear.
