With giant sign, woman begs: 'Obama, save my home'

I think 'Save "My" Home' references the fact that its not really hers, its only her home if its paid off, otherwise its really the bank's security and their property to be shortly.

Yes, that was one of the possibilities that came to my mind.

Then again, if I were in the position of making that sign (never mind how I got to the point of "OBAMA SAVE MY HOME" in the first place), I wouldn't have used the quotation marks.

If I shared that mindset, I'd want to stress the idea that this really is My Home, no matter what's technically true. The usage also risks looking like the work of someone who doesn't know how to use quotation marks--there's enough of that ignorance and confusion around to sustain several websites.
