MSM can't proclaim Obama the winner - over 60,000,000 watched tonight and they will know otherwise. This was an absolute disaster for Obama. I've been watching debates since 1976 and this is the biggest ass-kicking I have ever seen.

Romney did not stumble once. All his answers/responses were crisp, clear and on point. I did not always agree with him (such as that "crossing the aisle" schtick) but he came across as poised, comfortable and competent throughout.

Obama on the other hand looked lost out there. He was outmatched and had his head handed to him. If he wasn't such an arrogant, pompous jerk, I'd feel sorry for him.

No doubt we are going to see a different Obama on the next debate. His handlers are going to coach him not to scowl, not to look down when Romney is talking, and not to flash that stupid fake smile when he is nervous. But they aren't going to be able to make Obama smarter in the next couple weeks. Without a teleprompter, he's still going to fumble for words, spout weak cliches and the same old tired slogans.

Even if Obama does manage to step up his game in the next debate, Romney will be ready for him. One gets the feeling that Romney was cruising along in lower gears all night long because he already had Obama licked. Romney is extremely well prepared and will be even more so in the next two debates. Obama will not be able to catch up.

Just saw Palin on FoxNews. She was absolutely bubbly over Romney's performance.

I think the first debate is the most important tbh. Is the second debate on foreign policy only, correct?

CBS poll on tonight’s debate winner:

Romney 46%
Obama 22%
Undecided 22%

IDK why the numbers don’t round to 100%, or I didn’t C&P them 100% correctly, but it was 2-1 Romney over Obama.

Lol. Al Sharpton says Obama was rope-a doping letting Romney state a lot of facts that will be proven wrong over the next several days. He is a snake.

They can spin all they want, but this just got the rep based energized and the dem base is demoralized. This alone is HUGE!!!!!

The entire news cycle for the next few days will be about Obama’s poor performance, the aura of invincibility is GONE!!!

Then when Ryan pulverized Biden next week it will be the same thing.

Hey y'all. I listened to the debate on radio while following the FR thread, and like you, I readily admit that Romney kicked Obama's butt all over that stage tonight. No doubt about it. Even the lamestream media agrees.

As to Mitt's core instincts, and how he'll govern as president, I think another Freeper upthread said it best: he won't be another Reagan, but he'll likely govern close to Bush 43.

I'm not looking forward to gnashing my teeth for another four years of Bush style "compassionate conservatism", but I'll take it over four more years of abject Marxism any day.

I think Romney made the sale with millions of voters tonight, but he's still going to have to prove to me that he's not going to revert to his former liberal ways before I relax a bit.

I must say, though, after listening to him tonight, I'm at least open to giving the man a chance to do that.

I'm watching Fox and I see a guy who says he voted for Obama but will now vote for Romney. He's asked, "Did you change your mind because of tonight's debate."

His answer - "Absolutely!"

While I'm thrilled with his decision, what kind of a freaking pinhead do you have to be completely flip your politics based on a single debate?

I wonder what the new intrade bets are....

Someone upthread said that Intrade moved 11 points in Romney's favor before the debate was even over.

“It was a straight up ass whooping..you know things are bad when both Maher and MSNBC all say that Obama stunk LOL”

I think Team Kenya was caught flat footed and surprised by Romney’s aggressiveness. Bubble boy barry never has to debate on even ground and that killed him. Like a deer in the headlights he froze when challenged.

Focus group just justified Romney’s campaign strategy. They said up until today Obama defined Romney - today Romney defined himself. So the multi millions Obama threw into ads for the last few months bashing Romney is down the toilet. Meanwhile Romney sat on his pile and did in 90 minutes what the ads wouldn’t have done in 3 months.

So all you armchair strategists sit back relax and watch a pro get it done.

Click here: Incumbent Debate Curse: Barack Obama Falls to Mitt Romney - NationalJournal.com

Excerpt:
Call it the curse of incumbency. Like many of his predecessors, President Obama fell victim Wednesday night to high expectations, a short fuse, and a hungry challenger.
If Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney didn’t win the first of three presidential debates outright, he more than covered the spread. He was personable, funny, and relentlessly on the attack against Obama.

The president looked peeved, flat, and — this is the incumbent’s curse – irritated as he carried a conversation with somebody telling him he’s wrong for the first time in four years.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/10/03/chris_matthews_freaks_out_at_obama_after_debate_romney_was_winning.html

Excerpt:
Matthews then demanded that President Obama start watching cable news, specifically his program.

“Where was Obama tonight? He should watch — well, not just Hardball, Rachel, he should watch you, he should watch the Reverend Al [Sharpton], he should watch Lawrence. He would learn something about this debate. There’s a hot debate going on in this country. You know where it’s been held? Here on this network is where we’re having the debate,” Matthews said.

“We have our knives out,” Matthews said, admitting his network is trying their best to defend Obama and his policies. “We go after the people and the facts. What was he doing tonight? He went in their disarmed.”

“He was like, ‘Oh an hour and half? I think I can get through this thing. And I don’t even look at this guy.’ Whereas Romney — I love the split-screen — staring at Obama, addressing him like prey. He did it just right. ‘I’m coming at an incumbent. I got to beat him. You’ve got to beat the champ and I’m going to beat him tonight. And I don’t care what this guy, the moderator, whatever he thinks he is because I’m going to ignore him,” Matthews said.

“What was Romney doing?” Matthews asked. “He was winning.”

Obama was a deer in the headlights tonight.

Hope this continues for the next two debates.

Had to love Frank Lund’s session. All those undecideds and obama supporters moving over to Romney. That was tremendous.

Obama just had the worst debate performance ever to be covered by television.

Stock up on ammo, as Obama goes down in November, the free-loaders will loot, riot, rape, assault and even kill.

It will make LA 1993 look like a day at the beach.
