Folks over at DU are freaking out about the debate and are under the delusion that Romney lied and Obama won ...

I just couldn’t resist a peek ...

For weeks now, the Obama campaign has made a big deal of Romney’s “47 percent” remarks; that brief video has become Exhibit A for the campaign’s depiction of Romney as an out-of-touch rich guy. But in 90 minutes of free-form debating, Obama never once uttered the phrase “47 percent.” He just didn’t bring it up.
**************************************

I think it didn’t come up because that would open the door to Obama’s tapes. Obama doesn’t want to fight THAT fight on on national TV. He can’t— not without pushing out one group or the other.

“I don’t think he had a particularly bad debate,” top Romney adviser Stuart Stevens said of the president. “He’s had a bad four years.”

Ouch!

I guess I shouldn’t second-guess what everyone is calling a big win but I am disappointed that Romney didn’t go after Obama’s character. There is ample evidence now that his character is very low, very dark, very bad... that is a subject worth discussing.

Maybe not in the first debate...

Don’t you think the way he did go after him helped to expose his character right there on the spot?

Romney did expose how lame Obama is, but the only way to get into the character issue is to discuss the way the media has covered up Obama’s truly evil past. I don’t know if there’s a way to work any of that into a debate but I can’t help thinking that Romney owes it to the American people to do so... because the media will never tell the truth about this miserable person in the WH.

I think you have to be very careful with attacking your opponent's character. You generally want the perception of “being above the fray” when running for president. That being said, Romney did so delicately touch on Obama’s character.

He brought up the fact that some of that 90bil green energy loan money boondoggle went to Obama campaign supporters.

Not sure if it was Romney's performance during the debate or Stephanie Cutters reaction after the debate, but I now have a tingle running up my leg.

It’s the narcissism. Obama believes he’s too gifted to fail.

The emperor has no clothes and Romney hung him out to dry.

The world saw it too.

Romney picked Portman because as goes Ohio so goes the nation. Obama is at an instant disadvantage because he really does believe America is a racist country that has caused two centuries of atrocities across the world.

Obama is a victim of his own victimhood mentality.

“The emperor has no clothes and Romney hung him out to dry.”

I’m not voting for Mr. Romney (see my profile) and I would NEVER vote for Mr. Obama because I am very conservative.

However, I was VERY impressed with Mr. Romney’s debate performance, and truly enjoyed watching him slice and dice Mr. Obama. I was SO glad they didn’t allow the audience to demonstrate to tilt the debate away from the guys debating. In that forum, without the Obama zealots, Mr. Romney EXCELLED in what he did.

Were it not for my (see profile) objections to Mr. Romney, and I was a trully “undecided” voter. Then this AM I would be voting for Romney. The man did very well.

Mr. Obama keeps trying to blame President Bush for Mr. Obama’s failure to do anything substantial during the past four years. He is an empty suit and except for that 47% that knee jerk vote Dem, he is now the underdog and many others will come to his side. I think he came close to doing to Mr. Obama, what President Reagan did to Mr. Carter. Of course, there will never be another Ronald Reagan!

Anyway, Romney was very impressive. I genuienly hope he does as well in all debates. Even IF he doesn’t succeed in removing Mr. Obama from office, he has done serious damage to the myth of Obama. That is definitely for the good of the country.

BTW - Cincinatus’ Wife - I wish now I had supported Perry in the primaries. Just as I believe you pushed.
