I just looked to see if W&J has the same reputation as they did when my daughter was considering it...sure enough...it’s still a great school.

“The college has a focus on preparing students for graduate school and professional programs. Across all disciplines, 85% to 90% of students who apply to such programs receive offers of admission. Among students who apply to medical school or related health graduate programs, 90% of students gain admission. Approximately 11% of all current W&J alumni are physicians and engineers, making the college third in the nation per capita for producing doctors and scientific researchers. Among students who apply to law school, approximately 90% of students gain admission.”

Also, I went to a few fraternity parties there around 1962-63 when I was in nursing school in Pittsbugh. They were Phi Delts. One guy is now a retired dentist, and the other is a lawyer.

You are exactly right. I went during the day when many of my fraternity brothers (Phi Gama Delta) could pay their books, board and tuition from earnings on their summer jobs, (able bodied seaman, steel mill worker, long haul truck driver etc.)

It was and still is a good school for the sons and daughters of blue collar people who may be the first of their family to atten college.

I don't think they can do that any more (tuition alone is about $25k) but the quality is well worth it.

This round of violence is very distubing and disheartening. I do not think it will continue without a backlash, given the ethnic makeup of the city.
