My surprise, and disappointment, is after the rise of the TEA Party we ended up with a nominee like Romney

On that, we can agree.

But Romney's who we've got. And, given the alternative, I would expect every conservative to be sensible enough to vote for Romney -- as opposed to making some futile gesture by voting for a third party candidate or sitting it out.
