I am in Washington State with contacts in DSHS and the family court system. I assure you that SNAP benefits are not knowingly issued to a family with 100k income in the household. Something about the story as it was conveyed to you is bogus. It is not unusual for an individual receiving benefits fraudulently to create cover stories to conceal his crime.

Ya see, the approach you take, “fraudulently to create cover stories to conceal his crime” is the frame of reference that scares the bejeebers out of him.

I’ll make sure to triply tell him never to bring this story to light.

He’s the most honest guy you’d ever hope to meet. He tried to refuse the benefits a couple of times. He’s been firmly rejected. He’s a serious conservative like any standard issue FREEPER.

But when the State (like you say) uses the word “Crime” and “Fraud” he, I or you would scurry as quickly as possible to a dark corner never to be found again.
