This should not be a surprise. In many ways, the Afghanistan war is a modern version of the Vietnam war. Hearts and Minds campaigns, Rules of Engagement that hamstring our forces, allowing safe havens, winking at our “ally” Pakistan, a PM (Karzai) who plays both sides, and, of course, a dedicated insurgency with a long term view of victory.

I would have thought that once we began our nation building operations these 6th century ragheads would start organizing Civitan Clubs, chambers of commerce, and National Tolerance Day marches. After all, the leftists tell us people are the same everywhere. Oh well, what’s billions of American taxpayers’ dollars squandered among friends?
