I agree one million percent. She was perfect, and so was Gordon Macrae. I saw video of a London production with Hugh Jackman as a breathtaking Curly, but the Laurey wasn’t so hot, though she was a terrific dancer, the first Laurey do do both the singing and the dancing. She just wasn’t pretty enough, and they dressed her down to be a tomboy.
I saw that actress do that role in NYC, she was not that good, and sorry to be nit-picky but she’s a brunette, I think Laurey needs to be blonde.
The fellow who played Jud was EXCELLENT, to me he was the best in the show. That’s a hard part to play, I’ve always thought, even from when we did a very abbreviated version of the show in elementary school.
I’ve also watched some of the videos with Hugh Jackman - I never realized it was that same London production, I wish he’d come across the pond to play Curley!
