Well worth the listen. They don't make 'em like Jerry Clower anymore!
Knock im’ out John!
“Owwww, he come a runnin’...”
Heh! My dad loved Jerry Clower. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
He’s right. While the teachers and schools deserve a lot of blame, it ultimately falls at the feet of the parents.
I imagine Jayree is glad to be remembered. Yazoo City is poorer without him.
Even if he was a Democrat.
Gotta love Jerry Clower! HAAAAAAA Two of the first comics I listened to were Ray Stevens and Clower......
On a trip with my two twenty-something sons a couple of weeks ago, I played Jerry’s Greatest Hits CD. I consider it required cultural training. They loved it!
They especially loved the “she coon” of the women’s lib movement. I have done my part and I have two conservative sons!!!!!!
"The rat-killin'" never fails to make me smile, too. I used to hear this stuff on WWL-870 AM by the soft vacuum tube glow of my dad's old Hallicrafters radio. After midnight, an overnight radio show out of New Orleans called "The Charlie Douglas Road Gang" was aimed at long-haul truckers and used these novelty recordings between segments. Charlie himself recorded a few stories in a style similar to Jerry's - check YouTube for "The Mule and the Planting Bugle".
Thanks for the memories, Jerry was a close friend of my father and stayed in my home on many occasions when I was a kid. Supper time was most entertaining and I’m thankful I didn’t choke to death laughing with food in my mouth.

a truly funny man that doesn’t need to ride dirty to be funny...
