Bombshell: CNN takes money from foreign dictators to run flattering news stories about them
Natural News ^ | Thursday, October 04, 2012 | J.D. Heyes

Posted on 10/08/2012 10:58:19 PM PDT by Olog-hai

Those of you who are regular readers of Natural News—and your numbers are many—may not always agree with points of view expressed here, but we believe you at least consider us a trustworthy news source, a point driven home by the tens of millions of page views we receive every month.

That said, how much trust would you place in us if, say, we were being paid to put out certain information or relate only a singular point of view? We're guessing that number would be much, much smaller.

Yet that's what one establishment media organization—CNN—appears to be doing, according to multiple sources who say the network has begun engaging in a practice of killing stories that portray governments and countries which have become the network's sugar daddies in a bad light. …

"Specifically, he notes, CNN aggressively pursued - and then came to rely on - revenue from several Middle East regimes, in order to remain viable, especially after the 2008 economic recession, "which caused the network to suffer significant losses in corporate sponsorships."

It has long been known that CNN trash in the U.S.A. has been subsidized by its international affiliates.

Why is MSNBC still on the air with no viewers and high paid teleprompt reading puppets.? What does the MS stand for? Microsoft.

I’m not sure if it is a disgruntled employee or what...

Ex-CNN reporter: “Major US media ‘constantly demonizing’ Iran, Syria”

A former reporter of the CNN says the US-based network and other American mainstream media are engaged in the “constant demonization” of Iran and Syria.

Ex-CNN reporter: “Major US media

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “There is constant demonization of Syria, Iran and other countries on the US mainstream media,” Amber Lyon said in an exclusive interview with Russia Today on Friday.

“I think this is an overall really harmful to journalism [sic] theme of these mainstream outlets following in the steps of US government and kind of shadowing how the US government feel about these areas.”

Lyon went on to say that Iran, in particular, is regularly demonized by mainstream US media outlets, describing the attitude as “dangerous to the American public because they are not being given the accurate story and accurate picture of our foreign policy.”

“I fear that we are starting to see a constant demonization of Iran on US networks,” she said, “in what appears to be a systematic matter.”

The American journalist pointed to emerging concerns among “many” [US] journalist that “we are going to head into Iraq-Number-Two, except this time it’s with Iran.”

Lyon also said that CNN was bribed by Bahrain’s regime to censor a documentary on its brutal crackdown on popular protests.

The former CNN correspondent produced the documentary on the brutal suppression of nationwide protests in the Persian Gulf kingdom over six months ago and although it was aired domestically within the US, its broadcast on CNN International was suspiciously withheld, raising charges that the management of the mainstream TV network had pulled the plug on the news story.

During the interview Lyon also revealed that CNN gets paid by despotic regimes to produce and broadcast what she referred to as “infomercials for dictators,” saying that the sponsored content of such pieces aired on CNN International “is actually being paid for by regimes and governments.”

“This violates every principle of journalistic ethics, because we’re supposed to be watchdogs on these governments,” she added. “And that’s the issue here, that CNN is feeding, then, this propaganda to the public and not fairly disclosing to the public that this is sponsored content.”

She further noted that other than some Persian Gulf Arab regimes, CNN has also produced such sponsored ‘infomercials’ for governments of Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Lyon also elaborated on the hurdles she faced in Bahrain while trying to produce her news documentary, including an instance when she “sneaked into some of the villages” to witness atrocities such as shooting fleeing hospital patients by birdshot and beating of ambulance drivers, after which she was “violently detained” by masked and heavily armed Bahraini security forces who attempted to “erase all the video that they found [on us].”

The US journalist then insisted that she and her female producer had to “hide some discs” to get them out of the country.

“You can imagine Bahrain’s surprise when we got back to the US and this content was airing on CNN, and right after that is when the phone calls started coming into the network complaining about me and trying to get my coverage off the air,” she said.

No, what Eason Jordan admitted was almost as bad. He admitted that CNN slanted its reporting from Iraq prior to Gulf War II so that their reporters would not be sent out of the country. They admitted to not filing stories which Saddam Hussein would find offensive in order to be allowed to remain in Iraq. It’s as if CBS had allowed Goebbels to review dispatchs from Berlin prior to 1942.

The Gulf states have been “investing” in CNN, mainly to insure that they don’t off the reservation and start to give their stories a pro-Israeli spin, not that there was ever much danger of that. That the mainstream media, and CNN especially, are biased against Israel, the only true democracy anywhere near the Middle East, is beyond contention.

CNN wouldn’t expose some of Saddam’s atrocities in exchange for exclusive access and interviews.

Funny how they had to kinda welsh on that one, once the bodies started coming out of the killing fields and the other networks ran stories on them.

But then, by that time, Saddam and the "wolf cubs" (Uday and Qusay) were on the run from the Army and trying to run a guerrilla war (having taken Chinese government advice to tie us up and bog us down in "one, two, many Vietnams" </off old ChiCom slogans>).

Uhh... yeah bud.  What would capitalism have to do with that?  What CNN is doing is more akin to chronyism.

Frankly, you sound like an anti-capitalist Marxist trying to take a dig at capitalism wherever you get the chance.  Even if your point makes no sense.  (Trying to sew confusion on what capitalism really is maybe?)

Capitalism is the only economic engine that is compatible with individual liberty and freedom of the people.  Anyone who has a problem with capitalism can feel free to transfer themselves to a non-capitalist country, where the collectivist government makes all their personal decisions for them.

This is exactly the kind of pollution of public life that toleration of any kind of |payola| <=> |pay-to-play| gets you. Federal prosecutors and Congress should have cleaned these guys up with federal prison terms given out "liberally" 20, 30 years ago.

Capitalism is the only economic engine that is compatible with individual liberty and freedom of the people.

Provided only that it's genuine Adam Smith free-market capitalism.

The crony-capitalist, access-capitalist, and monopoly-capitalist models kinda don't work for us.

You need good policemen and strong laws to make capitalism, and a legislature willing to back them up and not take money all over the place as "campaign contributions" to palliate the regulators. The price of which, from the 80's and 90's, we're still paying -- when the regulators and Congress looked the other way, and the Boys Downtown used the markets to shear savers and investors all alike with "near-perfect knowledge", cronyism, and shady, anti-marketarian practices (like "market timing").

The term of art for all the above is "ordoliberalism", from the old German intellectual journal Ordo in which these ideas were debated 120 years ago by ordoliberals and classical liberals.
