I had heard that Smith was a well-known player in EVE, but this is the first time I've heard that he was in Goonswarm.
Goonswarm is a big part of why I left Eve. They had a habit of picking fights with people they knew couldn't fight back, just to be a pain in the galaxy. After they did it to me, I decided it just wasn't worth the effort to rebuild.
Of course, I'm not claiming they were breaking any rules. In Eve, everything goes. But, "Goonswarm diplomacy" is an oxymoron.
Yeah, I’m no fan of the Goons. I’ve been a member of NC and TEST, and they were a constant thorn in our side. I always just packed up and left null and mined HS until I found another corp.
Regardless of affiliation, Vile Rat is missed.
I had my own single-member corp. I set up a research station in medium-sec space and was researching/copying blueprints. Since I didn't have to wait in line for a public lab, I was effectively printing money.
I made sure the station was fully fueled and went on vacation for a week. I came back and found that Goonswarm had declared war on my corporation, destroyed my station, and withdrew the declaration within about 2 days.
Their rationale? The research stations were generating blueprints that were used to build ships, which required mining their sacred asteroids. No, I'm not making that up -- that was their actual declaration.
Regardless of affiliation, Vile Rat is missed.
I don't miss Vile Rat.
I miss Sean Smith.
