Roger Ebert 'disappointed' by latest polls
Politico ^ | 10/11/12 | KEVIN ROBILLARD

Film critic Roger Ebert is disappointed in you, America.

"A depression has descended upon me. I look at the blank screen, and those are the words that come into my mind," Ebert wrote Wednesday. "I do not believe for a second that Mitt Romney will win the election. I do believe that at this moment he is tied, 50-50, in various national polls. Many of my fellow Americans have at least temporarily disappointed me."

Chicago is a great city. Obama’s politics have really soiled its reputation.

Compared to L.A. or NYC? It’s actually fairly easy to get around in.

I went to a KFC in eastern Colorado several years ago. This particular KFC was staffed by shall we say minorities. I placed my order, paid and then was promptly told “We don’t got no “cheekin”. Then the fun began. I requested a refund...was told in broken English they didn’t know how to make a refund. After a prolonged discussion I managed to get a phone number for the franchise owner. I placed a call, explained the situation at his franchise location and expected the situation to be corrected. Several days later I did a follow-up. Nothing done. I proceeded to contact KFC corporate...within a week the KFC franchise was shut down.

Ebert lost part of his jaw due to cancer and has lost his voice. However, he continues to write. Roger Ebert

“...a dyed-in the wool Chicago old media millionaire Commie...”

And he is not a good reviewer of films. His prejudices make him trash a great movie like OCTOBER BABY just because it is pro-life and other films he’ll slam because they have manly men.

Ebert’s career peaked with the campy BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS.

He didnt review “Obama 2016” for a long time because the movie wasnt showing “in his area”, or something like that. I wonder if he ever managed to get in his car and drive the 5 miles to see it?

Actually I don’t read any of them. The last critic I read in any field was Robert C. Marsh, the music critic for the Sun-Times for many years.

I have so little regard for the newspapers and media I don’t trust them or believe what they say about anything.

I rarely see movies or go to the movie theaters. The last exception was going to see Trouble With the Curve, Clint’s latest. Terrific movie, good story, good performances. You could take the family.

Our politics have ALWAYS soiled our reputation. In the 1880s the head of the gambling syndicate was also head of the Cook County Democratic organization.

Politics started in the saloons here and was run out of them for close to 100 years. Power oscillated between the saloon keepers, brother owners, gamblers and criminal syndicates or various combinations thereof for the first century of the city’s existence.

The fundamental difference between the old RATs and the new RATs is that the former was not ideological at all but more concerned with securing the maximum amount of graft and boodle for the Party. They were no more Left than the standard American voter. The Ultra Left has taken charge now.

Did you ever try to get around Detroit? Impossible without a map at your side. The city grew by annexing a lot of smaller towns and the streets are neither parallel nor perpendicular but at odd angles in many cases.

I lived there for 2 years and it was an armpit then and much worse now.

I’m factoring in his reputation...the guy’s a putz.

For years I’d consider seeing anything he panned but for the most part avoided anything he gave a good review.
