Communism was already an American dream during the Spanish Civil war when Americans volunteered to fight on the commie side in Spain.From what I have read, many Americans were slaughtered when they joined the communist cause in the Spanish Civil War. I think the number was close to 2000 who fought on the side of the communists. It takes a pretty solid committment to join another county's war.
