Republicans Try To Stop Gloria Allred As Mitt Romney 'October Surprise' Drama Builds

The Republican party is bracing itself - and preparing to fight back - against Gloria Allred's rumored "October Surprise" on Republican presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

"We're doing too well to risk 'an Allred,' she can be stopped, but it will take action on our behalf," a GOP watchdog group blogged, asking supporters to contact Romney's campaign headquarters, the Republican National Committee and Judicial Watch.

As previously reported, Drudge Report founder and respected politico, Matt Drudge, tweeted Thursday: "Here she comes. Hearing Gloria Allred out there again, about to make a move. After all, it's her time of the campaign. Team O at the ready!!"

Allred, an outspoken supporter of President Barack Obama refused to confirm, or deny, Drudge's prediction, telling RadarOnline.com: "I have no comment at this time about Mr. Drudge's Tweet. I don't discuss meetings with potential clients."

The Red Side of Life, Conservative Musings from New York says on their website, "Gloria Allred Prepares Anti-Mitt Strike. You Can STOP Her Now! (action!) Don't underestimate Gloria Allred's ability to inflict damage. The media will 'eat up' anything she feeds them and turn it into an endless scandal. Recall she took down Cain and RINO Whitman with NO EVIDENCE. We're doing too well to risk 'an Allred.' She can be stopped, but it will take action on our behalf."

The blog asks supporters to "please make these two calls. We will only get their attention if we bombard them. If you get VM, leave a message," to the Republican National Committee and Mitt Romney's national presidential campaign headquarters.

"The critical points to get across: Warn them about the pending attack (they really may not know) - Explain the severity of damage Allred can inflict - Demand that they get their teams of lawyers to launch a pre-emptive strike against Allred, coming down on her first like a ton of bricks -This is no trifling matter. Let's roll!"

During GOP Meg Whitman's run to become governor of California, Allred represented Nicky Diaz, a former housekeeper for the Whitman family. The housekeeper alleged that she was terminated from her employment because she was an illegal immigrant and that could have derailed Whitman's quest to become California's first female governor. Whitman ultimately lost the election to Democrat Jerry Brown.

Allred was a delegate for President Obama at the DNC in North Carolina last summer.

Most polls show the presidential race between President Obama and Governor Romney to be in a statistical dead heat, with both candidates heavily courting the female vote.

The sickening part is that this will be enough to change some women’s vote. He advised her not to get an abortion, she got one anyway...what am I missing here?
Prolly a bunch of b.s. anyway.

The guys who had the story about Dubya’s old DUI... did they just wait until the weekend before the vote and drop it into the news?
No as a matter of fact, they didn't wait until the "weekend before the vote," they blew it by coming out with it in Sept.

Buckhead here at FR exposed the sham, and the story turned out to help Bush instead of hurting him.

If they would have waited until a week before the election, it could have brought W down.

The media would have been all over it, accepting it as true as it came from Rather and there would not have been enough time to dispute in most likely.

If this is all All Red has, then I’m not worried. It will get the lib women stirred up again, but they aren’t voting for Romney anyway.

I agree Rathergate in ‘04 was a clusterscrew. I was here for that. That one would have have been caught anyway if they’d waited, because the forgeries sucked so bad, but it would still have been a lot dicier getting the word out. No, I mean the first run. Good Lord, that one was painful, not just that weekend, but the next month and a half.

I love Paul Ryan, but physically he look pretty scrawny to me.

Was she involved with the Bruce Hershenson take-down? I’ve forgotten. Remember, he had a few drinks with someone at a topless bar or some such, and it killed his viability overnight.

Whitman had (years earlier I believe) fired the agency provided maid after learning that she was an illegal. Right before the election, she surfaces with Allred suing Whitman over the thing.

“Romney campaign should start talking about the mysterious deaths related to Obama....that should shut them down...”

Yup, maybe it’s about time that Donald Young’s momma got some air time!

If no one’s noted it ... at DU ... here’s the jist ...

1. They get all excited that steve from omaha says it’s a campaign law violation.
2. They all flirt with steve to stop teasing them, could this take down Mitt? Or Ryan?
3. They wonder - Mitt’s Tax Return’s?
4. Steve then tells them its smaller than an October surprise. They are clearly depressed about that.
5. They are talking about a campaign law violation at a state level race, that could flip a contest “red to blue”
6. They speculate if this is the Allred thing
7. They don’t seem to know
8. If I read any more on that sight I’m going to puke, so I quit.

So - someone has an accusation against a republican in a state level (senate/house) race about a campaign violation.

Maybe there’s more - I just couldn’t keep reading the thread. I feel dirty. I’m going to take a shower.

This may just be a pre-emptive strike against Alred in case she is contemplating anything. And it would blunt anything she came out with now. I doubt a campaign law violation that would cause any significant problems even if that were the case.

That story would not attract any new voters to Obama, just secure the pro-abortion crowd that is already solidly in his camp. It might actually help Romney with those who question his pro-life bona fides. Those here, for instance, who claim they can’t possibly vote for Romney because of his prior pro-choice position.

Yeah - others found more at DU as I was posting - I wouldn’t take my post as ‘the serious thing’ ... sounds like there’s more stuff aimed directly at Mitt going on.

Yes I agree, and I remember it well. No, Alred is a bottom feeding jackass, no doubt about it.

Apparently it’s true that once at a social event some 15 years ago, Mitt Romney double dipped one of his tortilla chips in the salsa. In short, according to Glorida, it’s over...

Not sexual, but I’m sure she found some ‘woman” who felt dissed by him at Bain. Didn’t Larry Flint put up a MILLION DOLLAR REWARD for info on Mitt?? SCUZZ....they are ALL SCUZZ.

My guess is if there is in fact anything to this it will be something along the lines of a High School date who will claim Romney wouldn’t take no for an answer and continued to grope her in the car about 50 years ago. Nothing like forced sex (rape) or anything close since that would have come out long ago but just typical kid stuff such as the incident in which Romney was accused of being a bully for being intolerant of another student who had green and pink hair.

The idea of a Gov. Romney pressing for sexual favors from a binder woman is beyond laughable. Simply not credible.

A woman at Bain Capital who didn’t get promoted or paid fairly is plausible, but that’s now a long time ago.

From what I am seeing on leftwing blogs it has to do with Romney in his role as a Mormon Bishop advising a fellow Mormon NOT to have an abortion. Oh, the horror! Lamest October “Surprise” ever. And it isn’t a surprise if you know about it in advance.
