It Looks Like We’ve Discovered Gloria Allred’s Romney-Bashing October Surprise

On Friday Drudge teased that far left sensationalist Gloria Allred was about to drop a bomb on the Romney Campaign.

Allred has a reputation of dragging perceived female victims in front of the camera as props to bash Republican candidates. In October 2010 Allred dragged out illegal alien Nicki Diaz to attack heartless Meg Whitman. Minaj was upset Whitman didn’t buy her child a present and claimed Meg took advantage of her despite the fact she made a good wage. In November 2011 she dragged out Sharon Bialek who accused Herman Cain of sexual abuse.

So it is likely this year’s October surprise is Carrel Hilton Sheldon, a former Mormon.

The book Horror Stories: Mitt Romney’s Shameful Record with Mormon Women details Mitt Romney’s “psychological intimidation and bullying” during his role as a Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The report describes how Romney “tried to bully” Carrel Hilton Sheldon when she was suffering through a difficult pregnancy into not having an abortion. AlterNet reported:

Sometimes “bullying” is a matter of opinion. If he strongly advised her that the teaching of the church prohibited abortion and strongly counseled her to make another choice, is that “bullying”? Or is it staying true to his faith and expecting her (as a Mormon) to do the same?

Libs don't get the concept of how important religion is to us bitter clingers. The idea that an abortion could long haunt a woman of faith does not compute for them.

Sounds good to me. His proper role as a Bishop of the LDS was certainly to inform this woman that abortion is wrong, because it murders an innocent child.

As for the other, "much worse" case, it sounds to me as if the woman's doctor repeatedly screwed up, and then told her to have an abortion, to cover up his deadly mistakes. She should be suing the doctor, if anyone. He sounds like an incompetent killer who should have lost his license to practice.

Yes, I wonder about that too. If this is not made up out of whole cloth I would think that there would have been a major malpractice suit.

BTW found this interesting : FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether heparin will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication. Do not use heparin without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

This story is right up Allred's alley. She has been one of California's most prolific abortionists--made millions off the killing of babies. No wonder she takes exception to pro-life counseling.

Good question. Was she in the hospital when she was given the overdose, or did she take it herself? Maybe she took it to damage the fetus so she'd have to have an abortion. The article says her last baby died in infancy. Of what? Was she afraid to have another baby, and deliberately chose to do something to get rid of it? And again, I've seen no mention of a father or husband to her other three kids, the baby that died, or the one she was pregnant with. Too many unanswered questions for me.

I was brought up Catholic, and the last thing I knew, was that the church believed that abortion was wrong...period. In the case of the mother's life being in jeopardy, the belief was that the life of the baby should be saved. I may be wrong on that, and maybe someone knows more. The bottom line is, that there have been plenty of other women whose lives have been in peril, and chose to carry the child full term instead of aborting so they could get life-saving treatments.

Yeah, I’m back too (we’ll see for how long I guess). I take it as a tacit admission that purging Mitt supporters was a huge mistake. Anyway.....

This part stood out to me:

“The LDS leader in Massachusetts at that time, called the “stake president,” was a Harvard-trained physician, Dr. Gordon Williams, and he counseled Sheldon to follow her doctor’s advice to terminate the pregnancy and protect her own life, so that she could continue caring for her four living children. “Of course, you should have the abortion,” she recalled him saying.”

I’m calling BS on that. Bishops and Stake Presidents as I understand it are NEVER supposed to say anything like that. They can say something like: ‘Because medical authorities legitimately see this pregnancy as a threat to your own life, there will be no consequences to you from the church if you choose to get an abortion, but that doesn’t mean it is what you should do, you need to go to God and talk with Him about that.’ The decision and the responsibility for it lie with the woman, church leaders do not give authorization like that.

Bottom line is Mitt acted in a way consistent with the beliefs he has talked about on the campaign trail. He used nothing but words, persuasion not threats or force, and she still got the abortion. Total non-issue, but Mitt may be hampered in responding to it because he is not free to make private conversations he had while acting as Bishop public. He can make broad statements (”I never attempted to bully anybody... etc.”) but he won’t be able to get too specific without her permission I think. Likewise the Stake President.

Oh I know..I live in LA so I know all about that scumbag..she defends people she knows will make her famous, then when the story dies down, she scrams..that is what Allred is about..getting publicity for HERSELF..I wonder what happened to the illegal alien maid that cost Whitman the election(I dont think Whitman would have won anyway but the maid story didnt help) I bet Allred dumped her ass the minute the story disappeared and she couldnt profit from it..Allred is a media whore, she coined the phrase

Agree. If questioned he should tell the media, "I am not about to expose to the public the details of this woman's difficult circumstances. While she is free to say and do what she thinks best, my counseling will be kept confidential by me. The obama and Allred campaign may want to exploit her distress for political gain but I will not. Next question.
