Spirit of Aloha, my a$$. Native Hawaiians are some of the most racist leftist people on the planet. They are up deep in Obama's whole social justice, anti-colonial dogma.
I just got from visiting my son on Oahu.....I found the same thing, all local political signs, never saw a single presidential sign.....I had some great food and a great time......
And they called Alaska Seward’s folly!
And hawaii is who’s giant mistake? Can we get a refund?
No desire to ever go there. If I want a beach I just go 5 miles East.
Moved to Hawaii last year (Oahu - which is the main island for commerce, business, etc). It is definitely a blue state, but not as much as people might imagine. I actually think there is a good chance we will surprise people with the Senate race here.
As far as the culture, yeah, voting is more focused on local elections. Right now the “big” issue is whether to do a high speed rail project that would connect Honolulu with the west side of the island. A lot of people do not like to see modernization of the island and want to keep it ‘country’, but traffic is a beast right now too.
Maybe a Hawaii ping list can be created if one doesn’t exist. Yes Lingle may win. She’s against rail:

I spent some time on Oahu in 1995 and didn't have any unpleasant experiences with the locals--maybe I was just lucky, or it has gotten worse in the last 17 years.
Oahu is a great place to visit -- even if it isn't literally paradise.
I've been there 8 times now for vacations and work and really enjoy the laid back tourist scene. You just need the right attitude and to know where to stay and what to avoid.
We stayed at a hotel three blocks from the beach in Waikiki. Clean, nice, neat and a great price. But, the prostitutes at night work the street outside heavily. Makes me think that the authorities basically ignore prostitution.
Homeless dweebs camp out in Kapiʻolani Park with impunity. I love to jog there is in the morning.
I've heard stories of the racism in the schools. White kids are shunned by the Hawaiian kids.
So, Honolulu is a city like all others with big flaws. But, I still love every chance I get to visit. No wonder the homeless are attracted to lounge there.
Yeah.
A dirty old hippy democrat easily won the open Governorship relinquished by Linda Lingle and GOP Congressman Chuck Djou who had been elected with a 47% plurality got 47% again, to his rat opponent’s 53%, making it one of only 3 GOP seats to go rat in 2010.
And the number of Republicans in the State Senate was reduced from 2 to just 1.
No matter the turnout Obama will there by 30 points. We should kick them out of the union.
