No worries...and no apologies necessary. As an old timer here I’m sure you’ve seen tons of multiple posts...I know I have. On this thread there were many other multiple posters, and I understand the frustration with the slow software tonight.
It worked better for me this time. I logged off of FR and just read the thread and I used Firefox which worked much better than Safari that I had been using.
Hope the folks working on the software problem find a fix for it. I will continue to support FR financially until they do. It’s still the best, even if sometimes slow.
Hint for anyone reading this comment...when FR is slow, open the Reply window in a new Tab or Window...hit the Post button once, then go back to the thread in the other Window and refresh it. You’ll likely see that your comment is already there :)
I would make these suggestions:
Formalize the concept of the “live thread”.
In a live thread, cut the page size from 50 to 25 posts since most of the traffic is from people refreshing the page to see new posts.
Eliminate the preview feature, or at least set the default for the “I have already previewed...” box to the checked state.
And, to eliminate duplicate posts, block a user for a short period after posting, maybe for one minute. That will eliminate strings of resends from mobile devices that aren’t getting responses as quickly as they want.
It might also be helpful to limit refreshes to one per minute as well.
Do these things, and I believe the response time will be much better.
Before I do that, I copy what I'm trying to post just in case it's not there. I can then try again and just paste it in the reply box instead of trying to remember exactly what I typed. :~)
