This is the final dagger in 0bama's attempt to cast Romney as a hate-able rich kid. Chris Wallace's comment that only Romney looked, acted, and seemed like a President tonight is entirely correct. 0bama's optics were terrible, and his closing in the last 30-40 minutes were weak. His closing statement, when a lot of the sports-viewers are switching back to see the end was very, very weak. Romney's closing was good, and summarized a litany of failure.
Could R have said:
- I wont' miss 70% of my Intel briefings while the mid-East is burning? Yes.
- Could R have said I won't mislead the American People when one of our Ambassadors is murdered? Yes
- Could R have said since the bailout, all of GM's new manufacturing has been in China and Mexico? Yes.
- Could R have said our most important trading partners are our neighbors, and I won't alienate Canada by shutting down a pipeline helpful to both of us, or have my EPA outlaw their oil sands, and I won't send thousands of illegal guns into Mexico? Yes.
Every performance can be improved upon. But armchair quarterbacking is easy. Romney achieved what he wanted to do tonight. 0bama didn't. That's all that matters.
