I'm not a big Mitt, fan, but I thought he handled himself well in all 3 debates. In fact, I would say that Mitt handled himself in the third debate pretty much the same way that he handled himself in the first debate. The only real difference was that Obama's handlers lit a fire under his ass for the second two debates. However, the forced and artificial "fire" that Obama had only made him seem unstable and angry, while Romney stayed even throughout.

The important thing in these debates, in my opinion, is who manages to maintain the proper frame. Obama tried to get alpha dog in Romney, and Romney just dismissed him. In the third debate, this was more apparent than ever, as Obama kept trying to interrupt Romney and Romney just ignored him, unflinchingly, like Obama was just some pesky kid at a family BBQ. It was subtle, but Romney made Obama look like the trying-too-hard upstart rather than the POTUS. Since most dumbed down idiot American voters go on instinct and mere impressions rather than actual data these days, this subtle frame will go a long way in favor of Romney. Mitt also showed his underlying strategy in the third debate, which was apparently to let Obama make himself look like an immature fool, when he said, twice, "Look, attacking me isn't a policy. Attacking me doesn't solve anything. Attacking me isn't a plan." It really shone the spotlight on the amount of personal attacks Obama engaged in, rather than describing, coherently, his own ideas.

Whatever the polls are doing in response to these debates is irrelevant. The polling numbers are always suspect, but it seems like this election season has seen a lot of outright horsesh**, with wild swings depending on who takes the poll. I would not take any of them seriously, at all. Period. Nor would I worry about what the talking heads are saying. None of them has the slightest idea what the average American thinks, nor do they care. They exist as mere propaganda ministers.

Mitt did well.

I agree on most of what you said. I would also add that simply batting at Obama was only half the battle. While I wish he would just bat at Obama, on the other hand, I am actually happy he didn’t simply because to win, you have to put forward, or at least arouse more interest, in whatever it is you wish to say, Obama totally dropped the ball, and I was glad that Romney let Obama go rabid and out of control, pretty much let him act like the imbecile he was and is.
