I have no idea why these fools want to focus on edge cases. How about the normal situations that result in most of the abortions, e.g. abortion style birth control? Why not focus on those cases and win some converts?

Because they feel they’re on a Divine mission and nothing could possibly go wrong.
Rush theorized that many of those folks are good men, but they live in echo chambers and genuinely have no idea how offensive and weird their statements are to the rest of us.
It’s about the level on saying that blacks have lower IQs than whites as measured by our testing. It might be technically true, but it certainly doesn’t need to be said if you’re running for office. Part of wisdom is discretion.
