Just saw on another Sandy thread that this is all hype, a big nothing and that we are all ridiculous for being so worried. Well, offices and schools in NYC are closed tomorrow...so tonight we drink and wait out the storm. :)
I really really really really want a drink right now. I'm all nerves. But I think it's best to ride out this storm alert.
Disagree. We are higher than Irene - probably 15 feet above mean high tide - right now, with northeast wind continuing to blow steady. It will get higher.
Now, if you have an organized low pressure eye wall hit, over a full moon high, you will have a surge on top of wind blown high water. 20 feet above mean high.
Look up Ash Wednesday Storm 1962. This storm has that potential. Do not play with this storm.
Nobody knows if it’s all hype or not! With hurricanes intelligent people prepare for the worst and hope for the best...while stupid people end up in the Superdome!
