Because "Church" is a word for a gathering of people. It is not a religion or a building, but a body. You claim such religious knowledge, yet lack understanding of "church"?

By the way, can you tone down the hostility some? I looked at some of your posts and realized that I made a terrible mistake using the Catholic teaching when trying to tell you about Mormon doctrine, but it was only an example, since all major churches are on the same page on Mormonism they are pretty interchangeable.
