Dems nervous, GOP upbeat as vote nears
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | October 29, 2012 | Joe Garofoli

There's no shortage of their kind in the politically bluest parts of California. Liberals so freaked out about the prospect of President Obama losing his re-election bid that they can't sleep at night. Can't talk about anything else. Can't stop parsing the latest polls.

David Plouffe, one of President Obama's top campaign strategists, has a word for supporters he feels are needlessly fretful: bed wetters.

"Oh, I think I'm worse than that," Kay Edelman said.

For the past several weeks, the 60-year-old San Francisco resident has frequently bolted awake in the middle of the night, in "a panic attack," she said. She darts for her computer and checks the latest polls. Some days she's so distraught that she can't exercise.

Every morning, she gets e-mails from friends who've been just as sleepless. Most are so tense, they can croak out only a few words. "Very anxious." "Worried."

"Nothing more needs to be said," said Edelman, a retired educational administrator.

Emotional role reversal

In this most unpredictable of campaigns, an emotional role reversal is happening in California. Republicans, who hold no statewide offices and are only 30 percent of registered voters, are more upbeat and enthusiastic.

Liberals, on the other hand, keep checking the polls......

Grrrr...that just gets my blood boiling. I'm not on the public dole, I spend a fortune in taxes to support early retirees like her, and I probably won't get to retire until I'm 67 or 68, if then, due to the economic destruction wrought by her idol and other leeches like her. I am so mad I could spit nails.

Yesterday Carla Marinucci (same paper) covered the story about energized and motivated Californians streaming into Nevada to get out the vote for Romney!

People are nervous wrecks.

We’ll see who is depressed next week. I remember the deep depression we had when Obama won in 2008 and the Dems steamrollered us.

I’d say turnabout is fair play!

This is the stuff they're left with:

"A Message From the Children"

Full lyrics:

Imagine an America
Where strip mines are fun and free
Where gays can be fixed
And sick people just die
And oil fills the sea

We don’t have to pay for freeways!
Our schools are good enough
Give us endless wars
On foreign shores
And lots of Chinese stuff

We’re the children of the future
American through and through
But something happened to our country
And we’re kinda blaming you

We haven’t killed all the polar bears
But it’s not for lack of trying
Big Bird is sacked
The Earth is cracked
And the atmosphere is frying

Congress went home early
They did their best we know
You can’t cut spending
With elections pending
Unless it’s welfare dough

We’re the children of the future
American through and through
But something happened to our country
And we’re kinda blaming you

Find a park that is still open
And take a breath of poison air
They foreclosed your place
To build a weapon in space
But you can write off your au pair

It’s a little awkward to tell you
But you left us holding the bag
When we look around
The place is all dumbed down
And the long term’s kind of a drag

We’re the children of the future
American through and through
But something happened to our country
And yeah, we’re blaming you

You did your best
You failed the test

Mom and Dad
We’re blaming you!

So do you think we can actually have a GOP Senate and House after this election ? And if we have a GOP Senate and GOP House but not a GOP White House, for whatever reason, what can we do from here ? I hope there are productive things that can be done other than simply ranting about how America is doomed to become like Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia or the Sudan or something. I share your concerns and passions, but helplessness, victimhood and hysteria won’t get mainstream American support for any side at this point.

Good, they can feel the sickening horror I felt four years ago to think the US public actually voted for an acolyte of Rev. Wright for Pres.

How delightful. Interviews with a bunch of pepole that still think it is cool to vote for Obama. No rational reason just think it is cool. They are still fooled by the BS Obama and friends put out there. They don’t know they are like the last investers in a paramid scam trying to talk others into joining this great movement.

The leeches panic when there is a chance that their host is dying.

The very fact that there is such enormous concern about this election tells us the federal government is much too powerful in our lives.

If the government went away tomorrow, free people could survive quite successfully.
