Tragic. Thank you for the photos. This must be a great loss to you — so sorry. Round up your Republican friends and get them involved in the renewal of the town. Be sure to mark out a space for a church to be built — most “new developments” omit that to chase the top dollar — but churches help communities in so many ways.

Gotta get the insurance money, by any means necessary. I guess the peeps in those states affected, have never heard of disaster preparedness 101? I do not like to see any people suffer, but sometimes you bring it on yourself. Preparation is the key to survive any potential disaster.I thought by now some of the poeple, unlike the 47%(s) would learn the government cannot do all things for you in life. In closing, one can only remember Katrina where the 47(s) remained in public housing when told to evacuate. Ignorance is bliss to liberal fools who, are dependent on those of us who work for a living.

Dude, you need a reality check. Breezy Point is not a 47% area. Not every inch of New York City votes Democrat. In fact, some of the hardest hit areas (Staten Island, Breezy Point) are Republican parts of the city.

Got your “dude” hanging good buddy. Likes like (ny ny) is seeking another govt bailout like the one back in the early seventies. I analyzed those lucrative retirement packages in the municipal, county and state govt systems. My analysis is simple, highly over paid people on the sundry govt tits, retiring and coming down South to live.

I’ll have you know I live in a nice double wide on stilts and drive a pickup truck, drink PBR beer, got a 9th grade education and still think the South won the war. Funny how you stereotype a person, but that is ok. I could expect no less from a ny palooka.:)

Oh, only you're allowed to stereotype people?

I'm from Rockaway, now retired to Florida ... I would have thought a crappy singlewide on blocks, drugs with an arrest record, a third grade education, and a beat-up truck but no driver's license.

Never before in my life have I met people who bragged about not being able to read while collecting their disability checks, don't know what a library is, and have never been inside a barber shop or a dentist's office.

Rockaway got through 9/11 and the plane crash, they'll get through this too.

Why would I care about what a person says, who lives in a state that requires no voter identification. Voter fraud runs rampant in NY and NJ. I could expect no less from a bunch of polookas and snooki inbreeds. I will alos like to add kalifornia to the least of no voter ID requirement states. A fair election might cost (some)their public assistance staples. :)*** Governor Christie is a great governor and hope to see him in Mitt’s cabinet.***

Yes you will, providing you have the gumption to do so. I lke your response and glad to see someone else on this site, who enjoys a little funning. My heart goes out the victims of this disaster. They will regroup, reorganize and rebuild and hopefully the ones with some cranial intellect will do the fourth R. Vote for Mitt Romeny, who can salvage our economy and restore America to it’s greatness once again. Oh by the way Alice, How are things in wonderland? :) Wishing you and all the folks a speedy recovery from hurricane sandy. Sincerely,
John

You’re pretty generous there.

I wouldn’t be giving some folks that much credit.

I survived Ivan and halfway through it, decided this is some pretty serious stuff. I have been in many a (emer:) situation in my careers, but Ivan was for real. The hurricane sounded like two freight trains outside my house and we had several twisters grace us, as well. I did not sleep that night and was glad for morning to come. We had much damage, but I thank God we made it through Ivan unharmed. We rebuilt and had good ole USAA home insurance, so all worked out for us. I hope all the good people affected by hurricane Sandy, fair just as well.P.S. Our local Co-op sent some utility trucks and workers to NJ and NY to help along with Escambia County Florida.
Respectfully,
John

I was dead serious, not funning. Florida is inhabited by some of the sorriest low life miscreants ever to populate the earth.

Rockaway has begun regrouping, reorganizing and rebuilding. Yesterday a Rockaway emergency group was formed on Facebook. Today there are 3,400+ members. Tomorrow my daughter leaves Florida with a vanload of bottled water, clothes, towels, toiletries, dog food, and three generators. She’s being joined by other former Rockaway residents from all points. The local Catholic church will be the place to give and get supplies. Others, with building skills and tools, are offering their services free of charge.

hehehehe....

Much to the chagrin of my Florida redneck neighbors I've looked them all up via the Clerk of the Court's website. The vast majority of them, both men and women, have criminal records. I spent 50+ years in NYC and don't know anyone who has ever been arrested!

Meet some of them:

I could go on, but you get the picture.

I used to live in Fulton, NY, redneck and welfare central. It was like living an episode of COPS.

They look like many of my former neighbors. That’s why we got out when the time came.

Yeah, I get the picture.

I moved to Florida in 2004 and almost immediately got hit by Charley, Frances, and Jeanne. Lost a lot of trees, had to replace my roof, had flooding, and went without power for two weeks each with Charley and Frances.

When Ivan hit the panhandle, I had a friend who worked for FEMA doing damage assessments. Talk about overpaid government workers! Besides making a fantastic salary they got free housing, food money, gas money, even dry cleaning money. I went up for about a week, stayed in a beautiful FEMA-paid gulf front condo in Destin, and traveled around with him looking at damaged properties. I saw water damage but no fire damage. Your theory that people set their houses on fire to collect insurance monies is pure BS.

Yes, there was damage but I can’t compare it with the pictures I’m seeing from Rockaway, from the entire metro area. They’re now saying 110 houses burned to the ground in Breezy. That was in a 3 or 4 block area. And that’s only a small section of the beach. Don’t be fooled by the numbers: Cat. 1 vs Cat. 5. You can’t compare the scarcely populated panhandle to a densely populated city.

Most New Yorker’s live in apartment buildings. I lived in a small building with only 72 families. Some have twice as many or more. And several building will be on a single block. That’s hundreds families in a very small area with no power, no water, no way to flush a toilet, no place to dispose of garbage, no heat, no stores, blocked roads, trapped where they are. Right now the temp is in the 40’s, is going down to the 30’s by the weekend.

Check out some of the Youtube videos being posted of different parts of Rockaway:

I took my grandson ‘back home’ last summer for his first visit of the Big Apple. One of the things that made a big impresion on him was that people actually took pride in their appearance, they were well groomed ... and they all had jobs!

Anyone who won’t comprehend that there’s way more to a hurricane than category number has deliberately disengaged their brain and there’s no hope for them.

The impact of a hurricane on humanity is so dependent on so many factors that are not even meteorologically related, but some people simply cannot see beyond the end of their noses.

That’s what you get when people pontificate about matters of which they have no knowledge and sadly, we’ve seen a lot of that here on FR from people who you’d think would know better, or at least be willing to learn so they could know better.

Hey last word out. “AIWL”
Too bad, all you folks out there habitating those soetoro states got hit by Sandy. It was about time for a wake up call on the northern states for some severe weather.

I appreciate the fact, you even called me a “red-neck,” coming from your mouth, it was expected. I am sure if we did an academic and career accountablity analysis between the two of us, you would be severely lacking in all areas.
You reside in a state that totally restricts your right to self-protection and many of your elected officials have been convicted of crimes. I say fleas of the same will remain on the canine that provides free blood. I believe that is the “Parasitic Oath” (some of you people)have evolved in life.
When Ivan hit Ms,Al and La, we never saw assistance from any of your power companies, electrical workers and or public support. (FEMA was there for us) Texas and South Carolina sent many crews to help us. (The South Takes Cares Of Our Own) I am sure (you people)could have cared less about the people in our totally eradiacted ares hit by a much larger hurricane Cat 3, but really a Cat 4.
So you see, what went around has come around to your little liberal (totally controlled)faux paradises.
Possibly maybe (you peoples choice) soetoro will give you all a big federal bailout from all us hard working Americans. Vote buying is common place in NY and NJ.
In closing, Alice it is apparent you live in wonderland full of hatred for Southerners and others who, speak the truth. “Well that is alright and that is ok” and we here in the South will remain forever in a blessed way.
:) :) :) :) :) :)

My opinion is just important as your’s and you now have it.

boiled down.....screw ‘em

Amen

I know disaster volunteers who will never return to new Jersey. The people there were obnoxious and bit the hand out held to feed them.
