a loophole is a knitting term, and you cannot "close" one.

First, it is a mistake not discovered until later inspection and properly "closing" it really demands you unravel the thing and re-do that loop.

If there is a political "loophole" it is because someone deems something was inproperly done before, even after inspection.

Using the word "loophole" is a devious thought pattern.

Agreed and Republicans are as bad as the rest in using the term.

Substitute ‘remaining freedom they haven’t stamped out’ and the picture changes quickly.

A loophole is also a small window in a wall, used to shoot arrows or bullets through. Closing it prevents the enemy from doing the same.
