Painting with rather a broad brush, FRiend. I voted for the only person in the race I could (Virgil Goode). I did not sit at home. But I could not vote for an antichrist in any form, whether Marxist or Mormon. I am sad that God is asking us to endure four more years of Marxist misery, but delighted he has withheld us from a greater evil, the mainstreaminging of a soul destroying cult, whose damage isn’t measured in election cycles lost or even decades lost, but in eternities lost.
If you still object, consider Romans 12. Say you are the “liberated” Christian, absolutely confident it would not be sin for you to empower a man who sees himself as being a god in embryonic form. Fine. Your choice. What about those of us who cannot get past that, who find 2 john 1:9-11 compelling evidence that we should offer no support whatsoever to anyone who brings an antichrist gospel, which Mormonism clearly does? Would you have us destroy our consciences for your benefit? What was Paul’s position on meat offered to idols? While the world stood, he would not destroy his fellow believer over his own sense of freedom.
So while I do not expect essentially secular conservatives to ever understand or forgive us dissenters, I expect better things of those who make their fame from their commitment to the Gospel. You of all people should know that our being salt and light is simply a side effect of being faithful to Christ. We have no preservative effect in the world, no power of illumination, if we lose our ability to trust God and do what is right, no matter what. Those who have died to preserve our liberty have not died in vain, unless and until we stop using our freedom for good, for truth, and for the Gospel of salvation.
Peace,
SR
